Title: Winnie's now home....2 days early!!
Post by: Julz (Winnie's Meowmy) on August 11, 2015, 19:03:21 PM
Hi there,

Well....we now have a new addition to our family....as Winnie is now home safe and sound!

It was actually quite funny, as we weren't supposed to be picking her up until Thursday as she was going in to be spayed and micrco-chipped, but when the vet shaved her fur to begin the spay, she realised that Winnie had already been spayed previous to coming into the RSCPA Centre.

So, I got a phone call last night...unfortunately I missed the call as I had fallen asleep, so I contacted Winnie's foster carer this morning and organised to collect Winnie for about lunchtime! Needless to say....I was squealing lol.

When we got there, Alison (foster carer), took us down to where Winnie was and we saw her. She was being really playful and was rolling over on her back and purring like a mad thing  ;D . She was also licking my fingers and was relatively calm in the carry box on the way home...only a few little protestant meows...but she was quite happy to have my finger rubbing her under the chin practically all the way home  :Luv: .

When we got home, I put the carry box in the utility room (which is where we have set up all of Winnie's new stuff) and opened the carry box. Winnie put 2 paws onto the floor tiles...took a couple of Dreamies and bolted back inside the box. So we left her for an hour or so...and when I went to check again, she had fallen asleep in the carry box lol  :Luv2: .

Her foster carer, gave Winnie a birthday of 1st August...so we reckon she's about a year old now, and still has plenty of kitten in her, especially when she was at the foster carer's lol.

That's all for now....but I will add photos as soon as I get home, as I am currently out volunteering at the moment.

Mweekie xx

Great news  ;D ;D

I wonder if the tiles were a bit cold for her? Mine in kitchen are freezing.

Lol...my friend (who came with us) said the same thing...so you could be right Gill...was funny to see her bolt back in though lol  :hee hee:. We've left her for a couple of hours to begin settling down on her own terms...I don't want to rush things with her.

I forgot to say in my last post, that from what the foster carer knows of Winnie's back story was that her owners abandoned her when they moved out...and left her behind :(.

Aw it's great she's home now!!!!!

Our Moray was also abandoned in an empty flat when his alcoholic, drug dependent owner left him and his sister for 5 days without food or water.  They were only babies.  It's great Winnie has got another chance now, down to you.

Came home about an hour or so ago from my volunteer group.

Winnie is still really nervous, but has been coming in and out of the carry box and has had lots of headrubs and fuss....and a few little treats as well lol :Luv: :Luv:!

I've seen her both eat and drink, but going to look in the morning to see if the rest of her business is done!

I will take some photos to show you all tomorrow, but letting her get some rest (or continue exploring her room) for the night.

:)  Our darling Ruby gal will be 7 years old on 15 November later this year.  Her mum Dinah is still with us but sadly her stunning sister died in July 2013 but she tries her best to fill the gap that Millie left.  She has a truly beautiful purrsonality and extra toes to boot.

Aww that's lovely and I am sorry about Millie

I lost my other cat (way before I got Winnie), Lucy, at the age of 18 in 2008. So I know how you feel.

Happy Birthday to Lupin next week :wooooo:

Thank you! We think she might have a tiny touch of Siamese or another Oriental cat in her because she's extremely vocal, her paws are tiny and she has a really long thin tail. Plus her head is slightly more angled as well. But I could be wrong about that though lol.

She might indeed have a touch of the Orientals.  :)   We can often find clues to our cat's ancestry in their physical and character traits.

Rosella, I can scarce credit that Ruby will be 7 either.  I too can recall when they were just kittens.   :-:  And Gill - Lupin will be 5....!!!!

I can also remember Ruby being a kitten and Lupin being a young newbie.  But what really gets me is that Mosi will be 10 in December.  10!  double figures.  senior cat.  My kitten Mosi.  I got Mosi just before joining cat chat (was searching for info about cat trees).

Winnie is gorgeous  :Luv:
