I'm working this xmas - I started a cat-sitting service and advertised in our local free mag, I've got 4 customers (6 cats) booked for the xmas week! I gotta go out twice a day to see to them all - dunno when mum and I are going to eat lunch xmas day LOL!!

Hi Dawn,

I've only taken 2 weeks leave since April so I thought "what the devil" I'll tack a week onto Christmas, we have to take the bit between Christmas and the New Year as part of our Annual leave but this is the first years ever that I've taken leave at this time of the year and boy does the idea feel good!

Well I don't have a car as I hate driving so if I started walking now I reckon that I could meet you half way up the M1/M6 by Christmas

Clare and hubby don't need to be brave meeting the cats as my lot are all "pussy cats", roll over and invite a tummy tickle at the drop of hat and a tickle under the chin and/or some Whiskas Crunch guarantees that you've got a friend for life

. Now meeting me on the other hand that's a different proposition!!

although there are some similarities as a tickle under the chin and a packet of Smoky Bacon crisps will guarantee much the same thing

. Have you ever noticed how relatively difficult it is to get Smoky Bacon compared to say cheese and onion, ready salted (I preferred the little blue salt bags) or salt and vinegar. Smoky Bacon is very much the black sheep of the Walkers range, although I cannot understand why they call them "Smoky" Bacon when there's an "e" in Smokey, like in the film "Smokey and the Bandit" not "Smoky and the Bandit" this to my mind is simply unforgivable corruption of the English language!

. Smoky might refer to something that is Smock-like but that's about all. Whenether I see this in the supermarket I wan't to stick little stickers with the letter "e" in the appropriate place on each packet, in many ways I have devoted not inconsiderable chunks of my life to this crusade although I'm prepared to admit that I cannot get to all of said packets all the time so I'm fighting a loosing battle really.

I reckon Clare and her hubby are very brave coming to see you Leigh, never mind the puddies!!! If I lived nearer I'd be cheeky and invite myself to come and play with them too. I've only beeen driving for just over a year so daren't drive that far. Passed my test when I was 26 and didn't drive until last August wehn I bought myself a cheap car off my mate's huband who can be trusted and I love it. I've told him to look out for the cat car in my pic!!

Yes, Wilkinsons started "up North" but has spread around the country, we got ours in Kingston a couple of years ago" it's great I get all my household stuff, toiletries and cat stuff there.

Spooky, I thought that was me Crazy, daft, eccentric, barmy, totally out of my tiny mind, 48, single, no kids etc. I'm a grumpy old man now and if I'm quite honest I'd really like a big flashing badge that says so that I could wear as a badge of pride when you read all this PC and health and safety rubbish etc. The other day I read that the organisers of a Christmas Panto had been banned by the local council from throwing sweets into the audience for the kids in case someone got hurt and they got sued. Kids live in a sterilised, disinfectant "bubble" when their immune systems haven't a chance to develop any immunity against things etc. etc. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. It often makes me wonder how our generation have made it into adulthood, I remember drinking from the hose in the garden, our house was clean but not sterile, I rode on an elephant at London Zoo before the health and safety "police" banned it in case some kid fell of, I skinned my knees countless times in the playground and got a wipe of antiseptic which got most of the dirt out, I fell off my bike a few times but somehow I survived all these things and I'm still here. It makes me very sorry that so much of the fun has been ruined by these idiots.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that's better, got my daily grumble off my chest

You've not heard of Wilkinsons??? They sell almost everything. Toiletries, bedding, kitchen items, cat food, paint, wallpaper, gardening tools, car items etc. etc. etc. I live in Bradford and there's one in Halifax, Huddersfield, Leeds.

It's being so cheerful wot keeps me 'appy throughout a year that has often been quite "crappy"

Now this IS eccentric. The other day when I was in Wilkinsons they had just had installed new electronic touch-screen tills and when I looked at my till receipt I noticed that it had included on it bananas, THEY DON'T SELL BANANAS. They were duelly apologetic and refunded said item and put it down to "gremlins" in the new system. A day or two later I was again in Wilkinsons and after studying my reciept to check that it was "banana-free" I couldn't resist breaking into song "Yes we 'ave no bananas, we 'ave no bananas today!".

Sometimes life give one an un-missable oportunity for such things

my motto in such cases is "Carpe Diem"
