I am hoping so Steff although I would prefer not to put him in the car at all incase it brings on a full seizure, h3 hates the car and stress can bring one on.

Just going to see if it tells me if they are open on their website.

Just went upstairs about 20 mins ago and I knew something was wrong with Franta by his constant mew mew mew.

His bib was all soaking and he was droolling, needed food but was on the bed. He has had a mini seizure and has now calmed down again and is lying on the floor.

I am hoping to leave it until later today cos the roads are all frozen but I guess this has been coming on for last 3 weeks or so and I need his abs to inject him.

Its the first time since early Feb that he has been ill but reckon if I leave it he will just have a full blown seizure very soon but just hope its not tonight.  :( :(

Awww poor Ducha hope his leg stops hurting soon, and hope Franta is also on the way back to recovery for you.  Am just looking at one of the patterns I have found for cats and am wondering if they will help Ducha with his arthritis.

Just had to go upstairs again cos there were elephants chasing round bedroom and someone was howling.

Franta is really restless and Ducha just wants to rest now. Have left both of them on bed.

No he worked that out before but now he has got into habit of shouting for food lol befote it was attnetion.

Bad day cos everyones upset cos Ducha his brother fell off the bed around 0700 and was just lying there not making a sound, was scred to lift him incase he was hurting anywhere and not much room.

We just got back the vets and I a deaf in left ear from all his shouting all the way there! He has hurt his back leg again  and has been given an injection to go with the metacam he already has and now Franta is shouting his head off....well was!

He thanks you for the snuzzles cos he really likes those  ;D

Oh oh he has arrived!

Had not much sleep thanks to his HRH Meowiness and he wanted food every two three hours......................I now believe he is through his latest problem and has learnt that by making a raucous noise he can get anything he wants........sigh

However saying that we had a bad time a couple of times yesterday where he was doing his staring into space and shouting but he had a lot more sleep.

Right now he is sleeping, to make up for lost sleep last night, I imagine................I wish I could......sigh

So am going to let this thread go back to sleep again and hope that he is coming through it.

Thank you to everyone for their kind good wishes, its so appreciated as this is so stressful each time.

(((((((((())))))))))))) to Franta and Gill

I didnt know about the head scratching either but it makes sense when I think about it. My friend Pat has a cat called Dakota and if you put your hand to her she flinches (no real idea of history but we know its not good) Today she let me scratch her head and purred. After having the same reaction from bruvs cat yesterday Im totally able to believe its not a threat stroke

Cats love the top of their head rubbing as the mother will lick the top of the head to reassure their kittens.

Just thought you would all like to know that even if you class it as a piece of useless information.
[/color]

Ellen, no info is classed as useless on here - we all love to hear any suggestions at all.  My Bonnie loves the top of her head rubbing and I gently scratch it with my nails - she's let me do it for hours.  Never knew that was the reason though as I've never brought up kittens.

Still sending hugs and fingers crossed Gill.  Bonnie sends a massive hug and kiss to her Franta Man.

My Ollie eats loads after a seizure, and alot of what Gill says Franta is doing and acting Ollie does this on and off. Ollien is 7 and now and then he is totally disoriantated. seems in a world of his own.

One thing i was told by the neurologist that we will never compleely know what goes on in their head. My vet has seen ollie looking completely spooked out and twitchy and she says it could be mini seizures but its one thing we will never really know. Since Ollie became epilepitc he has become extremly clingy like Franta and totally depends on me being there, if i go away for a few days he gets seriously stressed. The vet thinks that he is like that because after everything he has been through and when he not to well i make him feel secure . Many a time i have looked at Ollie and he is just staring into space.  Just wish we could understand more.

I massage Ollies head a lot one he likes it and to i think he finds it reassuring

Big hugs to Franta and to you Gill.

No Franta isnt more hungry but its something related to his brain problem in the past and after a seizure he would just devour a whole packet of food, lumps and all!

The vets did not know why but it seems to be common to all cats that have seizures.

He had full bloods done when he was ill before and also checked for diabetes cos of the eating but even his one kidney was doing well.

I know that things can change a lot in two years and I am watching him like a hawk but he is a very intelligent cat and gets stressed so very easily so am not willing to force a vet on him and a 40 mile drive unless it becomes really necessary because it would be most likely to make him iller.

Our cat Timmy did that after his seizures too Gill it's very apparent and is a strange thing but I know exactly what you mean.  Timmy would eat like mad a full dishful of food afterwards, unlike his usual behaviour.

Shame that you are so far from a vets but I would make the trip if he continues to be unlike his normal self

As I write this I am wondering when he sort of doses off into his own little world he is having mini seizures, hadbt thoiught of that till now...........he is just sort of lost for a while.

He had full bloods done when he was ill before and also checked for diabetes cos of the eating but even his one kidney was doing well.

Today her was fine till I got out the lappy and am sure one of his problems is that he is just so nosey that he doesnt not get enough sleep, At his age he should be getting around 18 hours sleep and he doesnt come close.

I am hoping he will go upstairs and sleep soon but I think he is just making sure I am not going out..................which I have to soon cos need cat food and to pay for new tyres on my car.........sigh

He is a bit twitchy and has shouted a few times but just saw his tail disappearing out of the room  ;D

I quite like Classic FM in the car Mark but all the chat and stuff drives me up the wall...............what channels dont have this?

I don't know of any on FM but there are plenty of internet stations, like Avro http://www.classical.dj/europe.html

Without an internet radio, it would mean leaving a laptop/PC on though.

There are some stations that just have an announcement every 1/2 hour or so, but not really chat (often in German, French etc)

I have this on sometimes (on my internet radio) http://www.1.fm/station/baroque/default.aspx - they play non-stop baroque with one spoken commercial (no sound effects etc) every 1/2 hour or so for loans or something  :evillaugh: http://www.1.fm/station/baroque/default.aspx
I like baroque but can't have it on all the time - overnight it is white noise for Alice - she isn't fussy  :evillaugh: - I tried regular radio and I am certain she is calmer with classical (I just think lack of beat makes a difference)

DO NOT BREED OR BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE

I believe I am not interested to know whether Vivisection produces results that are profitable to the human race or doesn't. To know that the results are profitable to the race would not remove my hostility to it.  Mark Twain

How is Franta today Gill?  hope that he's settled down I hope it's not the other problem again.  It could be dementia but hyperthyroidism does come to mind as Desley says.  Restless behaviour and hunger are typical signs or even something else bothering him? Fingers crossed he's ok today but maybe a vet check if he continues seeming agitated

Gill, if he is getting hungry more, it could be hyper-t, that causes them to be hyper too, and increases their appetite - one of the reasons i insisted Sam was tested (vet thought he looked too healthy), was because he wouldnt sit on my knee for more than 5-10 mins at a time.
