Swampy's in an oxygen tent in hospital. He's got IV steroids and whatever and had a huge dose of valium to stop the convulsions. When I put him in his carrier to take him down to the vet, he went into convulsions so I had to put him on my lap and just drive. Then at the vet he started convulsing again. The vet said he didn't know Swamp had been having convulsions or would have said bring him straight in - I DID tell the (very good) nurse. Anyhow they allowed me to stay and they have done what they can do. Even Xrayed his neck (seems ok but you can't tell if there has been brain damage without MRI which he's not going to have). The vet says getting his neck and head trapped and the shock, then it suddenly getting worse and him not being able to stand or walk means that the spinal cord got damaged and fluid has built up - which is now being drained with steroids and diuretics. I stayed with him for a bit but can't talk to him as he's deaf. I will go back at a 6pm to see him for a few minutes. Swamp will stay in overnight and apparently we should know tomorrow or saturday if he will be all right or if he's not going to make it.

Please send my littlest one all the positive vibes in the world. I can hardly see to type this. I was quite calm at the vets but now it just sinks in.

I left the room for a sec and when I went back in 5 mins later I saw his tail fuzzy and he had then wet himself and is hyperventilating. I rang and insisted so we are going in at 2.

Oh no, poor Swampy  I know your vet can be a bit funny but I would insist that he sees him today, hopefully he's just a bit shaken up but I'd definitely get him seen just in case

Swampy fell off the cushion on top of the chest of drawers in the window where he sleeps, got his head and neck stuck between it and the next door bit of furniture. I wasn't in the same room so don't know how long he was like that, but I heard a thump and went to look and he was convulsing, kicking his legs frantically and foaming at the mouth. I freed him and brought him to the sofa where he was breathing very heavily and I cleaned up his mouth and have been comforting him for about 3/4 hr. I finally got hold of the vet's nurse (he is operating) who said to try to feed him. I did and he ate a 1/2 can in one gulp of food - normally would eat that in 2 or 3 meals. He is hyper and miaowing and wobbly on his legs, but has been purring a bit too - but seems not to recognise where he is and is very distressed.

I am freaking out (vet can't see him until tomorrow unless I think he is seriously ill - Swampy had been at the vet for bloods & a medical earlier this morning too) in case Swamps has some brain damage. Do you think it is just shock? I am now going to cuddle him again and keep doing that all afternoon. Max is yelling too as is scared of him in his current state.

How long should I wait? I will check back in here in about an hour.
