Hiya Pav

I'm back.  Arrived home about 11am yesterday shattered, burned and amazed.  really enjoyed myself and, it seems, so did Charlie boy as he didn't want to leave the cattery at first.  Now he is back home he seems a bit puzzled by it all but I brought him some nice toys from America and he is having lots of fun.

He was pleased to see me and the cattery staff said he is wonderful (as if we didn't know this already).

How are things with you and Boy and Phoebe and Mr Tramp?

Hiya Purrs Peeps

I am on the net at my friend's house in Washington.Just wanted to let you know that my daughter and neighbour successfully transferred Charlie boy to the second cattery where I am pleased to report he is happy, eating and playing. Can't wait to see him again and have bought him some cool gifts from the USA.

Talk soon

Thank you and yes it is run by the same family.  The friend I am going to America with knows them.  I really don't understand why I didn't think about this before!

Anyway off at 9am and you know what?  I think I will miss Purrs and you all.  See you when I get back.

I dont want to worry you but is the other cattery still looked after by the same people and have you seen it recently?

I wish I lived close and I would come and see Charlie everyday, poor Charlie.

Well I cried all the way home.  Bless him.  I am a bit mad though as I hadn't realised he wouldn't be allowed out of his "apartment" for playtime.  Had a bit of a go at them until they grudgingly agreed to let him have a play in the safe corridor.  Also last week when I spoke to them they said I could pay for extra tlc £2.50 a day so I did.  When I got there I found out this tlc is for an extra 10 mins a day.  So I feel even worse than I did before now but not a lot I can do about it.  Pat, my neighbour, has said that if he is too stressed (which I fully expect him to be as he is very energetic) then she will pick him up and he will have to stay in the house on his own and she will come in and see to him BUT (and it is a big but) I have a lodger who is here sporadically and hasn't the foggiest about cats and is well likely to leave doors wide open.  So I guess my holiday will be filled with angst about Charlie and I wont be able to wait to get home and pick him up.

UPDATED Have left instructions with my daughter and neighbour to move Charlie to another cattery tomorrow if they can take him.  I don't know why I didn't remember this cattery as it was where Guinness and Madison went 20 years ago when we moved to this house.  I can't rest thinking he will have to spend 17 days couped up.  Fingers crossed they can take him to the other one

Guess what Helen?  Temptations were 2 for £2.50 at PAH yesterday so bought him some to try him again.  Would give them to my neighbour for hers if he didn't like them.  He LOVES them this time around.  Don't know what changed his opinion but there it is.

Day seven of enforced indoor life.  He has wanted to go out badly today, has been running round looking out of the windows and crying.  Have distracted him each time with a game and now he has had his lunch and is sleeping on the landing.

Yes they will cuddle, groom, play with and health check each day but I doubt that will be enough for my boy.  He is constantly wanting to play and run around etc.  I am going to have a chat with them when I book him in on Monday.

Day six of enforced indoor life for Charlie hasn't been too bad.  Had three Da Mouse games and he has played with his cheese chase and a new hidey holey thingy he has.  He has played with furry balls on string too.  He hasn't tried to get out at all and hasn't paid too much attention to the window.

Still don't know how he will cope in the cattery though and will probably spend the whole 16 days worrying about it.

Mine dont like temptations either but Misa just loves Whiskers Crunch. he has it on the little lid which he uses as a tray but he wont eat them out of a ball either, unless I shake them all out for him

He was offered a new fishy traet yesterday that someone kindly sent as a present but he sniffed glared at me and wouldnt touch them. So added crunch to the tray and still he would eat anything.

Later I turned round to look for his tray cos he was moaning for his treats and he had covered it up with a towel

I removed the fish treats and then everything was OK  LOL

I have tried him with two different kinds of Temptations and he just turns his nose up.  For some reason though he loves the combination ones from Tesco but even these didn't entice him to play with the ball.

He only likes Combination treats from Tesco.  His treat ball arrived this morning so did the stuff and guess what?  Completely ignored it.  Seems we are stuck with Da Mouse and my aching arms.  Still I would rather ache for England and keep him entertained than have him stressed and very unhappy.

Ah, but has he tried Whiskas tempations chicken and cheese variety  :sneaky:

Glad to hear Charlie is settling into indoor life without too many problems.  I think you probably feel worse about keeping him in than he feels about being kept in  ;) Is Charlie treat orientated?  The boys would kill for Whiskas temptations so I have a peek-a-prize that is stuffed with toys, mice and balls.  I then sprinkle some temptations in the holes and they will literally spend hours trying to paw the treats out - it's a bit less interactive than da mouse  :evillaugh:

I have been following it Baz'smum but thanks for taking the trouble to post the link.  He perked up for a while this afternoon and we had another play with Da Mouse - a bit of a wild one.  He is lying on the back of the chair near the window looking out right now

Well I have now finally had my garden turned into a mini fortress, it seems to have worked and although I do feel a bit guilty about not letting my cats having as much freedom as before. I do think it was about stirking a balance, their all safe, I have less to worry about and hopefully no more shortend lives. Luckily no trees or shrubs were cut down as trellis was installed between branches, so all the cats can still climb the trees but can only go so far before the trellis blocks them.
