This was posted on another rescue and rehoming forum I use:

"Recently an appeal went up on here for a home for a rat called Femi. She was a little husky doe and very nervous of being handled.

My own rat numbers are dwindling (I only have three of my own now) and I was looking to get more rats, but all the rescues in here at the moment are so lovely and tame and I prefer the ones that need lots of work and confidence building.

Femi arrived on Saturday night and spent the first night in a cage of her own to settle in.

Sunday we did some socialising and it didn't go without its problems. Femi was bought in as an anti-social rat, but she wasn't so much aggressive as did not understand other rats body language. That is the problem with many single rats that come in here.

My black hoodie (alpha rat) did alot of bossing about and there were quite a few boxing matches between them, but they finally settled properly on Monday morning and have been together ever since.

Femi will not be put up for homing now and will stay here for life.  :Luv:"

I would like to point out that I did tell them she hadn't been aggressive to me! Poor thing was just completely unsure of herself. It's good to know she's settling in, though.

I've just seen Femi off on the first part of her journey.  :'( I've got to say I've got more attached to her than I thought.

Well done to you people that foster on a regular basis, I'm certainly not cut out for it!

Thanks for the link, RR. We've managed to organise transport for Femi to a rescue in Surrey that will be seeing if she'll pair up with a neutered buck. Here's hoping. :) She's such a curious little girl, I really hope they take to each other.

Gah! Tried registering on that forum and it wouldn't acknowledge my password! It's now telling me that I can't try to register again yet!!

I'm not allowed to post in that section, RR. :(

Femi (African name meaning "Love me." It wasn't her name when she arrived, she had a human name that didn't suit her.) is here. She is very timid, but is very beautiful. :)

Hi RR. I've posted on Pet Rescue, but I don't suppose it would hurt to post on a fancy rat forum too.

"Female husky rat needs rehoming, due to her aggression. We think she's about 4 months old. We cannot
keep her with the others and unfortunatley do not have the time to try and rehabilitate her. I would not recommend getting her for children, and that only people with experience in keeping rats apply.
At first she was timid but handleable, she would just squeak a lot. One night she turned on the baby,
and we had to move her (Baby) into the large cage with the others.

Would be good for someone with a lot of time and patience. She seems to be OK with women, but appears to dislike men. Comes with cage, water bottles, food bottle and a gnaw block."

I'm currently caring for this little girl, or will be by the end of this week so if anyone can help get in touch. :)
