Yesterday we was handed in a 5 month male grey and white kitten that had been in someones garden for over a week.. No collar but lining to show one was worn at one point.. No chip either.. He is (was) riddled with fleas.. Very sweet boy.. He was found in the Hucknall area NG15 of Nottingham and handed into us at RACR.
RACR procedures for strays handed in is the smae as pounds (except we do NOT PTS) They are with us 9 days as a stray for owners to re claim. I have contacted all vets localy and with in a 5 mile radius, trent fm radio, scrawled free ads sites and so on and on.. We routinly chip any un chipped and give vaccinations same day unless it is late.. These costs have to be reinbursted back to the rescue if reclaiming your pet.. If after 9 days they are not claimed they will go up for adoption with RACR and be nuetered also if old enough and not done. All strays handed in are vet checked.
Anyone claiming him will have to show proof it is their cat as we do not go by what we are just told and hand them over! This could be someones loved missing pet and we must ensure they are reunited to the right people!
