I am posting this on behalf of Lau200 who due to personal problems now needs to rehome 14 of her 20 cats. She has to move out of the home she had and 6 cats including Leonie who came from me, are going to be staying at her mothers until she finds new accomodation.
The 14 that need urgent homes are varying colours, ages and sexes and two are feral, one semi but they are like my Sasa and come in to eat but are terrified of people and cant be handled.
Cody is a part maine coone and she has a part ragdoll and think a part persian.
Lau is up in Widness but has no internet access at present so if you can help, please pm me and I can contact her, she wants all the cats to go into homes not into rescue or foster care.
I know its a lot of cats that need homes but would be so great if any Purrs people can help.
They are all neutered and jabbed and will be gorgeous.
-
Sorry to hear Lau finds herself in this situation, please send her my best wishes. I hope homes can be found for them all.
-
Sorry she is in this situation and hope the cats can go direct to homes but most rescues are full to bursting so maybe hedge her bets and contact rescues to especially for the feral ones
Also maybe alerting kelly Joy to this would help she is so good at finding homes
-
o no! poor laura . im sorry im not in a position to help either but will ask about where i can.
-
:thanks:
-
so sorry to hear this. Can't help but hope something can be sorted out for the poor cats. She must be dreadfully worried about them all x
-
how terrible :(
i remember leonie shes the pretty furry girl isnt she?
i think Lau has a persian called percy or something similar...he was like a chinchilla colour if im remembering same cat :-: he would be welcome at the end of my bed :Luv2:
I think it would be a goo idea to get a full list of each cats needs up asap :(
-
What a horrible situation to be in :( I'm afraid I can't be of any help to Lau but just wanted to wish her the best and hope things work out for her and the cats
-
She has a half persian and Percy rings a bell and know the half persian is one of the 14.
I will try and get a list of the ones that need homes and that 2 of the 14 have possible homes now.
-
Oh no. :( Have posted as my FB status - will let you know if anyone responds.
-

My heart is breaking for Lau200 and her babies. I would take them all if I had the money and space. Alas I have neither :'( Here's hoping some beautiful person has space for one or more of these kitties. They're all beautiful. Xxx
-
Afraid I havent found pictures of all of them, sure they are around but not named
-
what a terrible situation for her to be in, I can't even imagine having to choose between my lot - I hope what ever it is that means she has to leave her home and split up her family can be sorted out soon
-
I would love to offer a home to one of these little babes but unfortunately I can't. Feel so sad for Lau. Her heart must be breaking :( :(
-
i have spoken to oh and he said we could have Pacey :wow:
however i read that hes not good with other cats? I think it may be good to see if someone comes forward that doesnt have cats if thats the case....but my offer is there if he desperately needs a home.
he is adorable looking :Luv2:
I would need him transporting though as dont have a car :-[
-
I will have a word with Lau cos |I have seen pictures of him with other cats.
How many cats do you have and what area are you in?
-
hi
i have 3 cats
miyagi is a 1 year doll face persian male (gumtree baby so..maybe half :innocent:), not agressive.
georgia is also one, a black and white mad cat..she likes to play, not agressive but likes a bit of play fighting with miyagi.
Mo my red point persian PKD... shes a bit anti social to the other two and licks their food etc, hisses if they pass, guards the kitchen door etc but all talk :innocent: she does follow the others on occasion so think its due to her being neglected on her own before so may not have had other cat companions?
im in birmingham.
jo :shy:
-
Thanks Jo, I did pm you cos was I silly , I knew you had 3 cats lol.
I didnt know they were all persians though ;D
I have pmed Lau and will pm again cos she can pick em up but not reply.
Which bit of Birmingham are you in,,,,,,,,,,its a big place lol.........I get lost just trying to bypass the bloomin place
-
Im in northfield , its south birmingham..not far from Rosella!
Georgia isnt a persian, shes a black and white saved from being dumped at rspca gates kitty , shes my daughters..tbh she may not be a pedigree cat but shes the brightest of the bunch
ah it should have said georgia is also age one! :shy:
-
Thanks.......did you get the pm which asks a couple more questions :shify: :shify:
-
ive replied to the pm, did you get it? :wow:
-
Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm lol, it hasnt told me but will look :-[
-
I just wanted to thank everyone for their help and kind words. The first leaves tomorrow for a new home and I'm extremerly upset that it has come to this. Anyone who knows me +has met my cats knows I'm very attached to each of them but facing an uncertain future, I need to do what is best for cats, +find them loving homes. If I had any other choice I would take it but sadly this is the only option. I have no internet access so rely on friends to let me use theirs. I will be sad to see cady go tomorrow but I know she will be loved +cared for
-
Is she going to someone that you know? Will you be able to know how she is? Good luck with the others.

Any updates? (Lau, I'm so sorry. You must be devastated.)
-
Loads of cats still needing homes :(
-
are they safe?
-
At present but dont know how long for
-
is there any news from Lau as to how she is doing Gill?
-
All I know is that Pacey the persian will be going to his new home with a purrs member shortly :shify: :shify:
There have been no bites on CC and they have also been posted on FB but to my knowledge no bites there either :'(
-
I spoke to Lau today and there are still 8 cats needing rehoming.
I have suggested she ask CP to list her cats under direct rehome but her local branch doesnt do this so she may ask further afield.
At least that way she can meet & vet the people who wish to offer a home :wow:
-
Hi Gill, you said they were safe 'at present' 2 weeks ago....do you know how much time there is left now? :(
-
Will PM you Shirley
Only 8 cats need homes now! Which 8, do you know?
-
Hello do we no what cats need homes?
-

Are you interested?
-

-

-

-

-
Good going, Gill. And Lau too. Hope she's OK.
-
As you would expect Lau s head is all over the place and she working 12 hr shifts too and not sleeping........I feel for her.
Any way we are getting there slowly..............I am shattered lol
-
Keep the faith, both. I'm doing a London to Lancaster to London run on Mother's day week-end if I can help with transport, just yell OK? Have nagged OH about taking Polly but he's still resisting. Booo :(
-
Thanks Sheila
-
excellent news..well done gill !
tiffs sent me an email saying shes very excited..if Courtney is as loving as pacey im sure they are going to have lots of fun :wow:
-
Ye I. Am I've fallen head. Over heels for her well all of them I just hope some more people come forwars for one. Or maybe two
-
aww well done tiff
-
Thanks every one
-
Looking forward to settling in photos.
Gill, it's hard work. And I can only imagine how Lau feels. When you next talk to her, let her know I'm thinking of her.
-
Am still working on OH about Polly. :gimme:
Not getting through just yet (his wounds from Kitty's attack are still visible - he just points at them and shakes his head) but I'm not giving up. :sneaky:
-
:briggin:U go sheila pls don't give up
-
oh sheila hope he cracks :wow:
I know Kittys attack was traumatic for all of you but that is soo unlikely to ever happen again im sure. If polly is even half as loving as Pacey then she would make an amazing new family member for you...Pacey is so cuddly i think he actually would live on oh and me if he had his chance :Luv2:
-
Glad. He's doing well and yes let's hope u do get polly were all routing for you
-
I will Js thanks ;D
-
It's not looking too hopeful at the moment. We had a traumatic experience with another little black cat in January, and OH took the brunt of her attack. I really pushed my luck in getting her so it's going to be a hard battle to get him to agree to take Polly (although she is older and has a proven track record).
I'll stick with it though, tiff, but don't hold your breath. If it's going to happen it will be Mother's Day week-end cos I'm up that way on my own with the car. If I've worn him down by then, I could go and pick her up (note to self - put cat carrier in car :shify: ) on the wway through.
Gill, let Lau know I'm doing my all :sneaky: to get this sorted for Polly (you know I'm home checked by Celia Hammond, but I'm happy for anyone to come round and check me out again). ;)
-
Let's hope so sheilarose good. Luck
-
Ok will warn Lau but will obviously need something definate ;D
Ummmmmm when is BH?
-
Mother's Day is 18th March, don't think its a bank holiday, but it's my Granny's 100th Birthday on 19th (RIP Elsa) so the clan are gathering for a double celebration.
If I can talk OH round, Lau's is a short diversion for me on the way home that Monday. Like I say, don't bank on it, but if I can, I will. I can't help thinking that Poor Kitty wasn't right for us, but has paved the way for Polly to come live with us instead.
Lau, if you're reading this, I'm thinking about you and I'm so sorry you are in this situation. If it were me, I'd ask my Purrs friends for help, too. I hope we can..
-
Yes we all feel for you lau if you do get this
-

i cant remember now if it is clive or clint that is next to Pacey in the earlier pics...either way i thought pacey was a small cat till he arrived....i then realised that clive or clint? is in fact just a giant

thankfully his neice has a cat so she was smitten with him :shy:
I will post some pics of him later bless him....i went to bed last night and there he was half under duvet like a person smack bang in the middle :innocent:
-
He sounds like a real character so funny did he get 2 sleep with you?
-

-
Aw bless him

Hello, if anyone is near to birmingham and can keep courtney +chelsey until I can collect them at the weekend please get in touch. Not a lot of people know I have serious health issues as I do not want it broadcast but the strong medication I am currently means I am not safe to drive and so I cannot make the 3/4hr roundtrip alone. The friends who I rely on are on opposites shifts to me at work this week so the earliest I can collect the girls is saturday. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
-
Oh no, I thought these two were settled in their new home. Has something gone wrong?
Sorry I can't be of any help.
-
Lau
I could collect them/Chelsea Wednesday evening after work and bring to you if that helps?
Susie
-
Oh no, I thought these two were settled in their new home. Has something gone wrong?
I thought Courtney was too. Sorry Lau, I don't drive.
-
hi
if someone can drop them off i could have them at mine till you collect lau?
if not i could do two journeys as only have one cat carrier..im not too far by bus to where tiff lives x
-
Jo its only. Chelsea that needs homing courtney is ok
-
ive sent you an email tiff so let me know whats going on? if you can contact lau to see if she is agreeable to it all x
-
This is so sad but Tiff has told me that only Chelsey is moving and Courtney is staying with her.
You are so kind to offer to help and will let you all deal direct with Tiff.
I believe that Chelsey is shedding badly and this has caused a problem with Tiffs daughter, I dont know if she sheds all the time or whether its just because the weather has gone so warm and its seasonal.
-
I know excess shedding can be caused by stress, this may be a reaction to the move.
Could anyone take Chelsea for a week or two to give her a "halfway house" to de-stress after leaving Lau, then try her with Tiff again when she's calmer? Shame for her to go all that way back when Lau is overrun already.
-
Ah, only just realised that Lau lives in Cheshire :( I stupidly assumed Lau was in Birmingham
I can arrange to collect Chelsea from Tiffany and take to mine temporarily BUT I am worried this will stress her even further (particularly as I have a lot of cats of my own and Chelsea will sense this). I've suggested to Tiff that she keeps Chelsea and her daughter separate for now.
I may just be better to wait until Lau can collect rather than moving Chelsea around?
-
I agree, the less that Chelsey is moved the best and I understand she is not a very happy cat......before moving to Tiff................and she is probably totally stressed out by the move.
I hope that you have spoken to Tiff about this
-
Can someone explain more clearly please what is meant by shedding? :shy:
Chelsea seems to be a short haired cat and (in my ignorance) I rather assumed shedding was more likely with a long haired cat.
How do you know Tiff that the problem is related to Chelsea rather than Courtney? Is your daughter allergic to cats? If so why do you associate the allergy to only one of the cats? Did you know that she was potentially allergic before you took on the responsibility for these cats?
It is such a huge upheaval when a cat is relocated such a long distance....for everyone involved but esp the cat. It is so very important that everything is thought through beforehand.
Forgive me if this sounds waggy fingerish. It is not meant to. This site is not only meant to assist with rehoming but also to point out the pitfalls of not thoroughly thinking everything through and that is the intention of my post  Please forgive me if I am way off beam :-[
-
Both sorts of cat can moult and I now know that Chelsey was very stressed before the move, but Tiff and I didnt know that until now.
I suspect that the stress she was under plus the move have made everything worse and although she is Courtneys sister they are nothing a like at all.
Co has been with Tiff a while now and her daughter has not got a problem but the adding of Ch with all her problems has caused a problem and Ch is scared and stressed and dumping her fur and its not the right environment for her.
Its very hard but Tiff just pmed me and I agree with her assessment that Ch needs to be an only cat in a nice quiet home with no children. Ch is not even getting on with her sister.
Tiff and I are very sad cos Tiff says Ch is a lovely cat but this move just wasnt right for her and I hope that she will be collected at the weekend and then someone will give her a lovely home.
Sadly Rosella there are many things we do not know about these cats.
-
Shedding is moulting :) and all cats do that :) but its not the fur that causes allergies, its the dander - i.e. skin particles. In Tiff's case though, I understand her daughter has asthma - so it may well be excess fur around the place making that condition worse. Courtney probably isnt moulting as much as Chelsea - but I do wonder if it may be a problem somewhere down the line when Courtney does moult.
-
I dont think that it will be a problem, cos I think the reason that Ch is moulting so badly is stress and this wouldnt normally happen.
The two cats have different sort of fur also and I would class Co as a normal short haired cat but also she can be groomed but Ch because of being so stressed cant be.
Tiffs daughter has lived with a cat before with no problem.
-
Can I ask who has said chelsey was not a happy cat before the move? I know that chelsey ran down the stairs when sheila was there due to being on her own upstairs but other than that she was her usual chatty self. Unfortunately I do not have as much access to the forums as I would like and there seems to be a lot of misunderstanding going on here. All I want is my cats happiness
-
Although all cats moult they do vary enormously in their potential to cause allergic reactions. My SIL who is asthmatic just had to walk into a room that my cat Rosie (a tortie and white) had been in and she would have difficulty breathing and her eyelids would swell but none of my other cats have ever had any effect at all on her. In fact Korky used to stay with her and my brother when we went away and was even allowed to sleep on their bed. One of the vets at my practice is also allergic to some cats and says he can't predict by looking which they will be.
When something unforseen like this happens it does highlight the problems associated with transporting cats long distances for rehoming.
-
I cant see that anybody says that Chelsey was not happy before the move, I said she is not a happy cat and thats in her current situation.
Gosh I can hardly type , so tired and Sasa has escaped and am hoping she is going to want to come in , anytime now please Sasa.
-
Can she be put in a room on her own to acclimatise and have the usual Feliway, RR in her water and perhaps some Zylkene to ease her stress
I know moving cats can be stressful having had an outbreak of Stress catflu when we moved 37 and we used all of the above methods and after a while it was ok
My shorthaired mob cast and are brushed and combed on a regular basis because they are sometimes worse than the longhaireds, same with the dogs
Moving her again is going to add to the stress so perhaps consulting a vet would help the situation and ease the stress this is causing all round for both humans and cats
-
Sorry, Lau, it was me. :-[
I mentioned that Chelsea was probably pining for Courtney when you told me she cries a lot and that she was Courtney's sister, and she was crying at the top of the stairs that day.
Please don't take offence, these things sometimes translate badly in writing, my fault and I'm sorry.
In attempting to get things moving I appear to have made things worse, which is a shame as Polly has settled in so well here, we've even got to the bottom of her microchip mystery which I'll PM you about.
I'd hate this to spoil things for anyone. Do forgive me.
-
Chelsey is back safely with us and has settled back in as if she had never left. she was put in a cat free room but as soon as i shut the door she was shouting and scratching to get out and Jamie was on the other side doing the same. they have been inseperable since and we would like Chelsey and Jamie to go to a new home together.
Jesse has been offered a home with a close friend of mine, along with his brother Jonny.
The long 3hr+ journey yesterday was difficult and i have been suffering since so as result i will be unable to transport any cats anywhere atleast for the immediate future until i am well, so a cat transport train will be required if potential owners cannot collect. i am relying on family and friends to care for my cats whilst i am ill so if anyone can think of anything to help me rehome a few more i would appreciate it.
Gill, i believe an updated photo of Poppy was sent to you sometime last week i believe.
-
Have you got a list of whos still available Lau?
Chelsea sounds like she may have been homesick poor girl :-[
-
I thought Jonny was staying with Leonie?
Yes I got a picture and it was nearly deleted cos was just an attachment to an email with no message.......but its not a very good picture.
Dropped milk with sticky splenda in it onto mouse pad this morning and rt button not working so have some problems
-
he was staying with leonie but didnt want to split the brothers up, as i want jamie and chelsey to stay together, it only seems fair that jesse and jonny stay together. i am concerned that sending some of these cats alone to new homes would cause them not to settle properly. as i have seen no evidence of the hissing behaviour or anything, chelsey is being her usually chatty self, happy for cuddles from humans and snuggles from other cats
-
Ok will change the list ;D
-
Do we know if any more of the gang have been offered homes?
-
Hi,
How many more cats need re-homing?
I am looking for a car no older than 3 and that are good with children as I have a 10 month old daughter who loves animals.
thankyou :D
;D
-
I I will send you a pm so we can chat about this off forum ;D ;D
-
Hi
:welcome: to Purrs ;D
What area do you live in and what kind of property? Do you have a safe garden?
I dont know which of the cats would be good with children and a home check would be necessary.
A couple of the cats have to go in pairs but havent updated to say which.........its Chelsea and Jonny, the later not on the list but has to be added. There is also another couple I think.
Chelsea was rehomed ubt is moulting very much and the ladys child suffered from asthma so she had to go back but she also was not happy with children......in fact she was not happy at all.
Most of the cats are under 3 yrs but I also need to know the age of your children and whether they are used to cats and whether they suffer from asthma.
Have you ever had cats before?
Sure there are loads of other things I will need to know before contacting the owner .
I have to go out now but will be back later
Gill
-
Hi Gill
I live in the midlands area its called Arley and I live in a 3 bedroom terraced house with patio bit and a good sized garden.
I have a 10 month old daughter who loves cats as my mum has 1 and my brother has 1 and she is around them all the time.
I did have a kitten called clover but due to her being very timid my mum has had her at her house and she is very settled now.
My daughter doesnt suffer from any type of breathing difficulties as my mums cat chalkie malts alot and Imogen ( my daughter) is always playing with her.
I owned clover for just over 2 years now but with her not settling with imogen its nt fair on clover to upset her so now mum has her and looks after her clover is also abit disabled in her back legs.
thanks
lauren :)
-
Thanks Lauren. please reply to my pms by pm as I dont want all your personal details all over Purrs
I will come back to you by pm ;D
-
Hiya gill I will be able to reply tomorrow as I am on my phone and it won't let me access pm messages sorry
-
Ok no problem, wont be tonight and maybe not tomorrow............depends on so many tghings and need to contact the owner.
-
Okay which cat are you talking about?
-
Which cat are you interested in..............then I can ask Lau if she thinks it will fit your home.
Can you also give me a better clue where you live cos I dont know the Midlands.........Birmingh\am, Coventry, EWN or S of what big place.
-
As you are not able to PM yet Lauren (think maybe it's being a newbie and you'll be able to PM after a certain number of posts), it might be best to communicate via email?
Would that be better Gill? If anyone wants to use my email address to communicate, feel free but I will not be interfering, will just send on any messages
RosellaMoggy@gmail.com
-
Yes she can PM but not from her phone.
I didnt think of emails but they would work fine and mine is kat@tornadothematics.co.uk
Just need a way that we can talk privately ;D
Thanks Rosella
-
Cats still needing homes are poppy (tortie female), candie (tortie female), clive (ginger male), clint (ginger male), and chelsey/jamie (tabby +white female/black male to go as a pair). This can be moved out of urgent as have back up from local rescue + any remaining cats will be going into their care within the next few weeks. Due to my health issues, family +friends care for the cats most of the time. However due to the situation with chelsey I believe it will be difficult to convince someone to drive me any great distance to deliver a cat, and I cannot guarantee I would be able to collect the cat should he or she fail to settle in.
-
Am moving this to the rescue general now
-
Lau, did all your cats find homes?
