Ok so had a call back...she's coming here  ;D

Apparently she was lost and has been handed to this lady, which dont sound likely for the area but  :shy:

She says she's a really nice cat, is ok with her dog and child just she cant afford to keep her  :shy:

So Im going to pick her up at 6 tonight, and hope for the best from my lot. Im going to phone CP later to have her put on the list just incase  :)

Wish us luck

I dont really know BL, she just said the cat had been found in an area over 10 miles away, maybe a friend passed her onto this woman  :-:

I suppose I will find out more when I go round.

The area she is being kept at atm is not good for animals so Im glad she's coming here  :)

Aww well done CC, hope it all goes well.
Strange that the lady knows her age though!

Yes I just thought that too Pav, unless she is making an estemate  :-: And she says that the cat gets on with her dog  :shify: Maybe the cats been passed on from a friend and she now realises she cant keep her. I dont know better off out anyways  :shy:

Im just praying and hoping that she is not pregnant, but then again she will be in good hands if she is  :)

Im not expecting to get much info on this cat as the woman said she has had her for only 2 weeks, not long enough to know if the little one has been spayed  :scared:

My cat proofing is going up tomorrow tho so all should be ok if not, if she manages to escape I can blame Roz  sorry Roz  :evillaugh:

Im getting worried now as to the amount of info Im going to get, as in not much at all  :scared:

Mark to tell the truth I think she was the girls cat by the things that have came with her....she has a nice collar on, not one you would buy for a stray and also a little house which would of at least been £20. Also some frontline and something from the vets kinda like a pre-biotic.

Something else...she is pregnant  :tired: The girl said she was skinny when she came but now she seems to be getting fatter. I have just felt her nipples and by the looks of her she is going to have kittens  :scared:

Im so glad to be out of that house, it smelt like they had not opened a window for years

Just looked and yes...I think Im going to be having kittens too, never been through this before  :scared:

She's a lovely little calico, just like Lyla but short haired. She is having a good mouch about and doesnt seem phased at all  :-: She has had a hiss at my others but they didnt hiss back so thats a good thing.

Just thought oh no kittens, I know I said I wanted one but this is taking the  :censored:  :naughty:

Yes I have heard about strays before  :evillaugh:

One woman said she had a stray with a bad eye and she wanted it back after the vet had sorted it  :evillaugh:

If your keeping her it would be best for her to be in one room as a nursery, this can be her own space so she can be relaxed when kittens are ready to come and they can be safe, no moving into dodgy spaces!
A vet check asap also wise, an ultrasound will give an idea how long to go.

Yes I just thought that too Pav, unless she is making an estimate  :-:

Yes, its just when they do the 1/2 thing for a stray it makes you think :-: Estimate is between 1-2, but the most important is that Rosie
is safe now thanks to you. :)
You can always send Lyla to live with us if you want to keep the kittens ;) ;D

Well done and   :welcome:   :R: :O: :S: :I: :E:

Yes I remember in a previous thread you mentioned that you had "kitten fever"

It is a great place in your wardrobe - put in a big box with a nice blanket and have the door partially closed a great place for kittening and bringing up kitties.

Bet you are excited now.

I already have a little calico but she is more Harrys than mine  :evillaugh:

Hum yeah I know I said I wanted A kitten but this

Im glad really as the part of town she was in she could of ended up dead if taken by someone else  :( and the house was rank too

I will take her to vets on Monday when I take Harry. I dont think she is going to pop anytime soon but you can see she is going to sometime.

She's a sweet little thing, doesnt mind the kids just the cats but Im sure that can be sorted out  :)

Well thats it really, Im just glad she's safe now.

I think the kittens will be going to a rescue once old enough, I hope so anyway  :naughty:

I know my mum has always wanted a calico  :evillaugh:

Well Rosie is doing good this morning, she's having something to eat and being a bit growly. My cats are being ok with her- they are trying to check her out but she's just growling  :evillaugh: They haven't tried to attack her so thats a really good thing, I well pleased with my lot  :Luv2:

The cat proofing is going up today, so I will see if it keeps my lot in and then maybe Rosie can have a wander in the garden later on.

She's come at the best time really as I cant stand not to have the back door open, not in this heat  :faint:

Just want to say she is doing really good, been out sunning in the back garden, explored all of the house ect Its like she has always been here, she is not fussed at all

Still lots of hissing at my others but they are scared of her so been really good and leaving her alone, that can be cured with time Im sure  :)

Going to vets today to see how far on she is, her nipples are big and the pregnancy is noticeable  :scared: She has made herself at home on the top bunk of the kids bed, eating and using the litter tray good  :)

I really dont know how she has been mated as she seems to hate/ be scared of other cats

CC a female with scratch about with a nesting instinct for last couple of weeks of pregnancy, I`m afraid I would move her to a box before birthing rather than after.
Smell there isnt anything obvious or unpleasant.

Well she done that then moved into her house, so nothing so far, phew  ;D Thanks for that Teresa I know nothing about cat birth, something to remember  :) I think Im just going to pad her house out and also get a big box and put that beside it, hopefully she will know what its for.

Im not getting what you mean about the smell, what will I smell when she is in labour? Also when the waters break, what happens then?  :-:

I think she will be fine wherever she chooses to have them, everything is already covered in cat  :evillaugh:

Pics I know, Ive been having a hard week so thats at the bottom of my list, but will do I promise  :)

CC think you are an overly anxious expectant mum bless you
Cats dont have waters that break like humans, occasionally a cat will pass a small fluid filled sac before the first kitten is born but not always.
First signs of labour is often a missed meal, there may be extra trips to the litter tray and when labour is under way you see the contractions in the form of ripples along her body.
Honestly the only thing you may smell is your own body sweat through stress
Usually there is very little mess, and most cats produce without problem,it is a good idea to have vets details to hand incase of emergency and maybe read up a little.
Not sure of statistics but I would say about 1 in every hundred pregnant ones i`ve dealt with have problems. So Good Luck and try not to worry

I s the kitten still warm
Title: Re: SAFFRON IS IN LABOUR...HELP PLEASE
Post by: Feline Costumier on June 08, 2009, 07:30:16 AM
Ok, is the kitten definitely dead? If it has just been born you can get your finger in its mouth to clear out mucus then rub it vigorously while holding it upside down, this helps get yucky stuff out of their lungs and get them breathing (never done it myself but seen it on TV many times).

I'd also ring the vet as if there are more kittens she may be in distress and need help.
Title: Re: SAFFRON IS IN LABOUR...HELP PLEASE
Post by: blackcat on June 08, 2009, 07:30:18 AM
Sadly that sometimes happens CC. If the kitten is still warm then it will be worth giving it a vigorous rub with a rough towel to see if you can get it to start breathing, but otherwise I am afraid there is nothing you can do. Make sure you keep a count of the kittens so you can be sure she expels all the afterbirth ...

Sorry to hear this CC, is she still showing signs of being in labour? Do you have her in a room by herself, as she needs that.
Title: Re: SAFFRON IS IN LABOUR...HELP PLEASE
Post by: bonnielass on June 08, 2009, 07:32:51 AM
If its still warm clear its airways and then very gently rub round the heart area and very very gently blow into its mouth but only little tiny puffs as its only tiny compared to our breathe,  also hold behind its neck and head for support and gently shake downwards to clear all passageways
Title: Re: SAFFRON IS IN LABOUR...HELP PLEASE
Post by: Teresa Pawcats on June 08, 2009, 07:37:18 AM
CC take a deep breath and keep yourself calm, you really need to get Saffron into a box to deliver, leave the dead baby with her until she either pushes it away or disposes of it ( do not be upset if mum eats it this is natures way). If by any remote chance kitten is still warm try to remove sac and gently rub kitten in a small towel with head pointing downwards for a couple of minutes just incase he can be revived. Its not uncommon for first one to be stillborn so dont panic. As long as mum is not unduly distressed you can leave ringing the vet until they open but if she has been contracting heavily and produced nothing ring vet now.

CC they never look fully formed in the sac, give mum cat some space, make yourself a cuppa and check on her in 10 minutes, hard to be calm when so much is at stake but you can do it, give vet a ring as soon as they open.

She could have gone into labour early, or sometimes they can go into labour and just have one, and then stop completely until the time they should give birth.

Title: Re: SAFFRON IS IN LABOUR...HELP PLEASE
Post by: Teresa Pawcats on June 08, 2009, 08:01:29 AM
OK then settle her in the box and sit stroking her and reassuring her, watch for the ripples down her flanks they will tell you if she is still having contractions, you know vets often get things wrong; as for body discretly removed him and place somewhere safe in case its a vet jobby because vet will know if baby is prem. Make sure you have towel, kitchen roll handy and round ended scissors just in case, you can do this CC
Kittens eyes are shut tight so look non existent, kittens ears flat on head at first, i think mum is likely full term and vet error

CC it can take mum a few minutes to clean them off and get them breathing, dont presume dead just yet, give mum chance to do her bit
Title: Re: SAFFRON IS IN LABOUR...HELP PLEASE
Post by: Teresa Pawcats on June 08, 2009, 08:20:29 AM
CC have you got a good sized cat carrier ? if so put clean bedding in it and confine mum and leave her to it; this may sound cruel to you but it really is best that mum is left to get on with things, this way she will also be bagged up ready to take to vet.
Title: Re: SAFFRON IS IN LABOUR...HELP PLEASE
Post by: bonnielass on June 08, 2009, 08:21:09 AM
When Cassie had her kittens i thought a couple of them were dead ,mum was busy cleaning one while another was being born so i gently helped with the sac and cleaned round the nose and mouth with a towel, took a few minutes but they started to breathe shortly afterwards then mum took over

it could be anything cc, she might not have been fed properly from before you got her - she might have an infection of some kind (that causes prematurity in humans) - its nothing you've done if she wasn't with you who knows what could be happening, my Star was left in labour for two days before finally being given over to the rspca for a c section - at least you are doing your best for her

I am guessing full spey with abortion of the remaining kits - they are unlikely to be alive or viable. If she commences lactation (unlikely) there are injections that will help to ease the drying-up process. It is not likely she will produce milk simply because these kits are clearly too early and so her body and hormones will not be prepared for the whole milk production thing. I am sure CC will update us when she gets back from the vets ...

Well what an awful mare day that was....Im glad its over to be honest!  :(

Glad Saffi has gotten over the experience very quickly, she looks such a young cat and that thin I thought she had oriental in her!

By the looks of her I really dont think she has been looked after very well through her pregnancy....Bless the little star...she is safe now cc, God knows what would of happened to her if you did'nt rescue her! I doubt very much they would of had her to the vets and with the shape of her she probably would'nt of made it!  :scared:

Think on the positive side cc, she is alive and well and in your care.... :Luv:

RIP Little ones....your places on Rainbow Bridge have been prepared x

I am sorry to hear your experience was such a bad one CC, but maybe you could use Saffy's story to highlight the importance of not letting your cat have just one litter? That way, at least something good will come of the heartache. I am surprised the vet gave her an injection and let her go home though, we had a similar situation and they did a spay. I would get her booked in to be spayed asap though, just in case she is at risk of an infection. RIP little ones

Saffi is doing fine, I even think she is coming a little more out of her shell, the agressive cat shell that is, my lot are sick of getting wacked by her  :tired: One good thing, she sniffed Ollies tail while he was not looking the other night  :evillaugh:

Oh her and Lyla are like the Tortie arch nemesis...they hate each other  :tired:

She has been scratching her neck where she got the jabs...its now red and sore, why would she be doing this?  :-:

Hi cc,  glad you are back and OK  lots of  for you.

Is the place on her neck where she is scratching where she had the adntibiotoics or was it her yearly jabs ?,   I just know that my Mum's cat is allergic to the yearly jabs,  not allergic as in they make her ill but she does scratch the site where they are done and it is nomally bald for a few months !,   I think some cats have more sensitive skin than others,  one of mine cant have frontline because it makes her itch ironically !

Have a nice relaxing weekend xxxxx

Hiya CC, glad to hear things are settling down for Saffron  :)

mm, the scratching does sound like a reaction to the jab if it's exactly where she's scratting, and if it's red and sore I'd probablly let the vet take a look

I would definitely have a moan at the vets if they advised you not to have the xray last time, at least if they had done that you all would have known how many babies were left.

I'm so sorry you are both going through this, but as many people have already said, Saffie is so lucky that you took her in CC otherwise it doesn't bear thinking about what would have happened to her. :Luv2:

I am shocked at your vets way of dealing with this, we had a similar situation last year, except Blossom's first kitten was alive followed by 2 dead, and they just did an emergency spay, they didn't see the point in delaying it, as she needed to be spayed anyway. I would be demanding a spay urgently, but would also be tempted to change vets.

I'm having great difficulty understanding why your vet does not just do an immediate c-section and neuter followed up by intensive ABs - what are they doing??? Are there any alternate vets you could consider CC? They just seem to be mucking about and dragging out what should be a fairly straightforward situation if they had handled it competently the first time around. I would be demanding to see a senior partner personally and wanting an explanation in full (and return of any expenditure that exceeded the cost of the sensible initial procedure. Poor you CC and Poor Saffron - hope you both feel much better soon

 :thanks: everyone

Im having a dilemma here- Im thinking of re-homing Saffron  :( She is just not getting along with my cats, at all! She keeps whacking poor Ollie and I have to remember he is sick too  :shy:

Macey and Lyla just despise her and vice versa, they are going at it like hammer and tongs everytime they see each other  :( She's not so bad with the boys but they are terrified of her  :scared:

I just get the feeling they are all stressed and its not fair to put them through that, big Oliver has started spraying again  :tired: so he's obviously scared  :(

I really dont know what to do? I feel awful on Saffi cos she has been through so much and she is a wonderfull cat- loves humans in every way but I feel she would be better on her own- she obviously doesn't like other cats  :(

Any suggestions?  :(

Maybe give it a week or two and see what happens,  the other probably will get used to her in time, but remember she has been to the vets quite a few times so they havent really had a chance to get used to her smell so to speak,   mine all get on fine but if one of them has to go to the vets when they get home again all the others bash the living daylights out of them because they smell of vets.

Daisy she has been her over 2 weeks and the fighting is still going on  :( Lyla is the only one that will stand up for herself, so then Saffi is scared of her. Lyla spent sat night out in the back garden- she wouldnt come into the house, and I dont want them to feel pushed out  :shy: Saffi has also left a big gash on Ted's nose from wacking him. They cant even walk past her without getting a whack!  I feel like they are all walking on eggshells, and thats not how I want it to be. I have always said I wouldn't do anything to make them unhappy but Im doing just that- with all of them  :-[

I will be really sad for Saffi to go but I feel she would be better on her own. She loves humans- the first day I got her she was all over me, but just hates cats and there are too many cats here to live an easy stress free life for her, and the rest of my babes and thats where my first thought have to lie  :shy:

Hi CC, I know that the last few weeks have been terribly trying for you, Saffron and the other cats. Given what she has been going through, and the number of times she has been to the vets, she will be terribly stressed and also will smell very peculiar to your other animals. Is there any way you can re-quarantine her from the others until her health improves and she is feeling better about herself. Once that happens she may just settle down and be more accommodating with your other animals.

I say this who spent the night before last with 40kg of dog trying to hide under my pillow because Smidgen had cabin fever in the caravan and was taking it out on everyone around him ...

CC, did you do the gradual intros? Have you tried feliway diffusers? I know you've probably thought of all this, but when Asteroid first came here we hardly saw Sage. Not because Asteroid was aggressive but because she's so full on and Sage is a nervous cat. The feliway definitely helped.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

CC poor Saffi`s hormones are all over the place at present, she is also as yet unneutered. Perhaps if you could keep her seperate until she recovers from her spay and then try gradual introductions. It has been a very distressing time for you and I feel you should give yourself time to heal before making any decisions about Saffi`s long term future

I have had intros that have taken over 6 weeks,   Lou Lou Flump always hates any other cats that come into the house,  we get 'proper' cat fighting and wailing.  Even now if she is having an off day she will bash the kittens over the head as they walk past her and the kittens have been here a year now (ok so they are not technically kittens anymore but I so 'want' them to still be kittens  :Luv2:)

Like Teresa says you have had a bad time and Saffy is probably still really touchy from what has happened to her.

Hope you can cope honey

Yeah Im going to see what she's like after her spay, its the least I can do  :shy:

She has just ran Harry out of the garden, he was that scared he's jumped the fence and over the cat proofing in 2 seconds. If she dont settle down she's going to have to go  :(

What you could do is place her on CP's list of cats waiting to come in and then if it does not work out at least you  or rather Saffron should be way up the list. If it works out I am sure CP would be more than happy to take her off the list again.

I reckon its defo her hormones and vet smells that are putting a spanner in the works at the mo! Here's hoping it will all settle down soon!  :Luv:

She chased Harry out of the garden this morning and he aint been back since, so she is making my cats feel like there not allowed to be here, to be honest I have never seen Harry so scared- he is petrified of her.

Ted has a gash on his nose off her, my poor little Ollie has had a few whacks- for just being in the kitchen. And now big Oliver is spraying again- cos he is petrified too

Lyla and Macey are standing their ground and fighting with her, which is not nice to see. Saffi will whack and chase any of them if they get too close to her (if she feels they are, they could be a few meters away   ) So now if any of them see her coming they are off in a shot, I dont want them to be scared in their own home- I said thats something I would never put them through.

At the end of the day an unhappy home is not a good home, even tho they still get everything they need I just cant put them through this stress

My cats are very easy going, which showed as they lived as a 6 without no problems. They even welcomed big Oliver cos he is chilled out and not trying to fight with them.

Maybe if Saffi was chilled out they could accept her, but her anger is way too much for any of us to take. She wants my attention and mine only! This is why I think she would be better off as an only cat  :shy:

I would try and confine her to one room cc, then I would get her spayed as the chances are she will come into season again pretty quickly!  :scared:

Even if this does not work out, atleast if she is done then the awful happenings of late cannot be repeated!  :Luv:
Title: Re: SAFFRON AGAIN URGENT HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Daisymac on June 15, 2009, 14:36:37 PM
My theroy on this could be that she is grumpy and lashing out at the other cats because she thinks she has kittens,   I dont really know how to word it but I would think that her hormones are telling her to protect her kittens,   it is just what nature does and she cant control it happening to her,  when Gracie Dirty Face had her kittens she lashed out at all the other cats really badly,   maybe Saffy is just suffering the symtoms even though she hasnt got the kittens ??,   I am not an expert by any means but it sort of makes sense xxxx

If she is kept in one room she goes mental pulling at carpets and everything. Its not the fact of the carpet cos its already wrecked- but the fact that she is stressed out. She likes to have a wander about and go out the back.

CC, you can't make any decisions until she has been spayed - it is amazing how different they can be once htey dont have all their hormones racing, and more so with what she went through last week. I would still keep her in one room for short periods, as they do generally calm down after a while and it gives your cats some time out. Also, 2 weeks isn't long enough for a cat to adapt, and not when they have had the experience she has had.

Yes Desley I know but from the start I have said if she dont get on well here, I would get her on a rehoming list, its nothing I haven't said before  :shy:

To be honest I dont know where or what would be happening to her right now if I didnt get her. I took her out of the bad situation and thats all that mattered to me. I tried to make her feel at home but things arnt working out  :( Her and Lyla were at it this morning, and now Lyla has the upper hand- she will attack at every opportunity- I dont want this going on.

And another reason which I didnt want to mention- she has also attacked my baby (Saffron has) baby was having a screaming fit and Saffi was jumping up at her face biting her, which made the situation worse  :(

I just think it would be better for us all if she was found a new home, dont get me wrong I will miss the little one and am sad things have turned out this way  :(

Im going to phone CP later on.  :shy:

I agree 2 weeks isnt long to settle in and with all thats happened to the poor girl, but sometimes you  know when certain temperaments arent going to work out well within a group, if thats what CC feels then she knows it better then we do, with us not seeing how the cats interact etc

I can't offer any advise sweetie as Max is my first cat and I've never had to try and integrate any others into the household.

All I will say is that nobody knows the personalities of your current cats like you, and if you can't see things working out with Saffy, then you may well be right.  I think we all have a gut feel about things, and sometimes you have to go with that

I know she may well calm down once she's been spayed, and if you could give her a change until then, that would be great.  But if that's not going to work, then you have to make the decision

I think as far as Saffi is concerned you have been there when she needed someone most, a lot has been shared in such a short space of time and for that I know she is thankful!  ;)

I think she may be better off going to the CP soon rather than later- Im going to phone them today  :( I have been saying this for the last few days but its a hard thing to do  :(

She chased Harry out of the garden yesterday about 9am, although when he kept coming back he wouldnt come in- just kept going away again. Then finaily about 11pm he came home hungry and exhausted- curled up on the sofa and went to sleep. I dont want him to be doing this  :(

I explained the situation- saying she cant be kept in one room as she likes to wander, and that she dont really get on with other cats- to be told thats no good as there are other cats there (obviously  ) and their PENS are quite small  >:(

So no help there really  >:(  They have put her on the rehoming list but only because I said I would keep her here in the mean time  They are going to avertise her today in a local paper and let me know if anything comes of it!

I mean what am I supposed to do? put her on a free ad and let the cycle start again!  :censored:
Title: Re: SAFFRON AGAIN URGENT HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!
Post by: Ela on June 17, 2009, 15:33:16 PM
Although I would not necessarily agree with all you have been told, I will say that we would have asked any caller to keep the little one contained in a room which is usually larger than a pen anyway until we can bring a little one in. I expect your local branch is like us and asked to bring in numerous cats a day which is impossible. (calls to bring in 30 in one day I think is about the most. We have to deal with the emergencies first that is little ones who will be PTS unless we take in almost immediately and cats who have no one to care for them at all. Sadly far too many cats and not enough caring homes.

I know often when people ring me they must think I am sat here waiting for their call to offer me their cat and get quite nasty when I say I will place the little one one our list of cats waiting to come in, but if they would care to send me a photo and details I will in the meantime place the details on out gallery.

What is very important is that Saffron is spayed as soon as possible. If she comes into season again that is increasing her chances to get mammary cancer later in life even more.

No Ela they were not even going to place her on the list untill I said I would keep her here untill a home is found, not that a space had come up. They really wernt that bothered  >:(

I already know she needs spaying, Im having a few problems so that may be later rather than sooner, but soon enough!

I explained the situation- saying she cant be kept in one room as she likes to wander, and that she dont really get on with other cats

I've been trying to stay away from this thread.

However, you have to realise that the best option is to put her in a room on her own and go in and spend some time with her.
So, she likes to wander - it does not really matter what she likes to do, we can all only do our best to our cats and foster cats. What best for Saffron is that she is spayed and her hormones allowed to settle down for a couple of weeks.

CC, you know your circumstances best, and only you know what your household is like at the moment. I can't imagine what you've had to deal with in this situation especially as you shared with us your own personal grief during this.  Yes, it's well known that neutering/spaying can temper aggression, however, only you know what kind of bandwidth you have to cope with getting her spayed and helping her recover and keep her separated from others whilst handling your own household and children.

I appreciate the continued suggestions of spaying Saffron may be frustrating CC right now, especially as she have repeatedly stated she is aware that it needs doing.  So I hope others take the above into account and allow CC to deal with that aspect of Saffron's care as best she can within her circumstances. She's doing her best.

She's doing her best.

I think we all agree on that. :grouphug: CC, I know it's horrible having to confine a cat that likes to roam but it's the best thing on offer at the moment. It's a pain because you want Saffron to be 100% content now she's away from the horrible place she was before - but just think about how much her life HAS improved due to someone caring about her.

Yes like none of my cats are  neutered and although Ive been a member of purrs for over two years, Im  still in the dark about cat knowledge  :tired:

I like to allow my animals to do as they please- I call it letting them have a life!

I know what Saffie needs so there is no point in going over the facts- I already know  >:(

There are other reasons which are making my decision- reasons which I wish not to post.

There's nothing wrong with letting animals have independence - I'm all for that. Is it more or less stressful to keep Saffy confined? (To you, her and the other cats I mean. It's a genuine question and you already know I think you'll do what's right for all the cats.)

Most of the day she will sit/ sleep on the top bunk in my kids room. She likes the door open tho and if she see's it closing she will jump down, she went crazy on sat when I tried to keep her in there to have the last kitten  :(

Tonight she was sitting at the top of the stairs looking down  :Luv2: She was sitting very close to Ted tonight, almost so they could sniff noses  but then attacked him when they were upstairs after  :tired:

Lyla is a big problem too- she now knows Saffie is scared of her so will keep up the chase  :tired: The only one she has had any interaction with at the moment is Ted tonight. She hates the rest I dont know if its because she's actually scared of them and thats why she attacks first?

Daisy, Oliver is a former stray who sprays when he feels threatened with regards to his territory. He's a nice old bean, but would probably be less stressed in a home with fewer cats. I think CC has been great giving these cats the care they needed and helping them the way she has.

Cc, Saffy will never forget the kindness you did her. Seriously, don't think you've failed her in any way by letting her go to the CP. She'll have a new home in no time where there's less cats to bully!

As for Oliver, PM me your location and I'll ask other rescue workers I know if they can think of anywhere that fosters in that area who'd be willing to take Oliver on.

She's still here- I phoned the foster yesterday saying I couldnt take her untill today could they phone me back if thats ok- and had no phone call

And I dont want to take her now- she had a nose sniff with Ted and it was all very cool and calm  8)

Then theres the problem of Oliver, his spraying is getting worse, which means he's more stressed  :( He did stop doing this but has started again now Saffie is here  :(

Do you think I should try to rehome him through here? I know his spraying would stop if he lived with less cats, he's a very sociable cat and likes others- just too many here for him to take, and he cant live with Saffies agression.

He's 11 but you would think he was a kittne the way he plays lazer  ;D Maybe even if he was found a home with an older cat that would be good for him, he gets on very well with my little Ollie  :Luv2:

Just thought no matter how much Ive fallen in love with Saffie or even the little steps she is taking- nose sniffing with Ted, Harry is petrified of her and spends most of his time not at home now. So she still has to go  :(

CC, put the details for both of them on here. It won't hurt, and you'd more than likely feel happier knowing a Purrs cat slave person has taken them on if anyone can.

CC, if you are going to advertise them yourself, you need to ring the vet tomorrow and book her in for spaying so she is done before anyone shows an interest in her. I have always noticed a difference in females within a few days of being spayed, so you never know, she might then be fine with the other cats once her hormones have stopped raging round.

Saffron has gone to the CP today  :(

Im not to happy the way things worked out  >:( I took her over- asked the foster to hold Saffie- in the box, while I went to the car to get her things- bed, food ect. On my return to the house the foster had taken Saffie inside and was coming out with an empty box, She didn't even give me time to say goodbye to her  :( Im very annoyed over that   >:( Then I was telling the foster what had been happening with Saffie- why she has a sore on her neck etc- all the while I was kept on the doorstep with the foster looking at me like would you leave already

She didn't even ask which food she likes or why was the reason I took her there- I didn't get a chance to say she was calming down with the others so maybe in time she would be ok with other cats

So all in all Im very upset at the way this was handled- me stood outside on the doorstep- I expected to go in and tell her a bit about Saffron. And am missing the little girl already  :'(

The foster even tried to refuse the bag of food for her- saying you have your own cats dont you, to which I said yes but I bought this for Saffron

And she kept calling her "the cat" Saffron has a blooming name, stupid woman!!!!

Im actually furious over this  >:(

I think that is very tactless of her and I would contact your branch or even head office to complain. Some people are clueless when it comes to dealing with other people. It sounds like she treated you like you were someone who was dumping their cat  >:( - I would definitely speak to the branch again. Although people volunteer, they should still behave in a sensitive manner. Don't let it get to you CC

She might have just thought it was better for everyone CC, you would be amazed at how many people can drop cats off they have had for a while with nothing and not want to say goodbye. Of course you will miss her, but she will soon be in a new home

CC, sadly I think it becomes harder for the fosterers to genuinely understand that the person handing a cat over might not want to. The more jaded they become the more hard faced towards "the public." (Sorry to any fosterers, just what I've observed with people I know.)

Despite calling Saffron "the cat" I'm sure she'll get the best care and a good home. I agree with Mark, though - I would call and complain about the womans attitude towards you. Hope you're OK. :care:

I think I can understand how they must feel! Just goes to show that some cases really are genuine!  ;)

Oh, dear!!  Thats really not very good, is it

Years ago I used to foster and often people would turn up with their cats toys, favourite food, blankets etc.  I always used to make notes ....  I wanted each new "guest" to be as happy as possible and felt sorry for the people having to make the decision to re-home thir cat.  I think so often there is an unknow "human" side to why a cat is re-homed.  And a cuppa and a chat to ease the "goodbye" process doesnt take much ....

That said, we did sometimes meet the complete  :censored:.s , too >:(    I still thought it worth being polite to them, though (even if I said horrible things about them in private later  :sneaky:)

And with that outlook they may not want strangers comming into the house  :shy:
It doesnt help how your feeling but maybe in a few days it will make more sense
