Title: Hello to all
Post by: WalksWithCats on January 27, 2010, 00:47:46 AM
Hello everyone.
Am a new member in terms of registering though have been reading for a long while now.

Had actually emailed a link to here to sister because of some very difficult and confusing issues her cat has that not even her vets and the behavioral specialists/vets who write for the CP magazine [the cat,her letter about sandy turned up in it last issue] have been able to solve.
So had thought, why not join finally as well.

Am twenty five, disabled [classic autism, multiple learning disability, epilepsy etc],and ride with the RDA,the other interests have got are meeting cats whilst out and about [have got a long list of regulars that go to see], computer games, cartoons, going for drives with staff or family, checking out a few cat photo websites [not sure if allowed to mention them though bet they're already well known anyway],and going to starbucks for a frapachino.

though non existant with humans-have had a deep connection with cats since becoming property of first ever cat-Twinkle as a toddler/infant, some people see it as being 'crazy' to also class them as friends and treat them better than the humans in family but to self they mean everything.

Am living in residential care, and have not been able to be around cats for along time because none of them have allowed animals, but the home am in now has ex battery pet chickens out the back, and have been allowed to have own cat at the farm [a farm owned by the manager/owner of this organisation].Sometimes there are a few toms below the window at night yowling which is interesting to watch,as am able to talk in cat language and the last time had done it to them they tried to get up to the window.

Today, was at a sanctuary called peggy hendersons-and though will have any cat as am not choosy, had not expected to be paired up so quick, the cat in question is a beautiful tortie and white SH lady, eight years of age,she loves attention and knows how to work her purr motor, her meow sounds exactly like Sams [another beautiful cat that was PTS not too long ago due to advanced cancer],it was like seeing Sam again-in a good way.
here's a photo of Jilly washing herself [quality of picture isnt good as its a camera photo taken of photo on a staffs phone]:

All have to wait for now,is the inspection visit of the farm though think it should be perfect for Jilly as it's not a typical farm setup,it's more luxury than what own cats at home get.

It was first time in a sanctuary as most of the cats that have lived at home found their own way in,and then advertised it to others like they all do,had wanted to bring them all home.
Don't know how staff manage to do it,as it must be really difficult being around them all the time and having to force self to not adopt them.

At home [family home] the kitty residents are Biscuit [she is P/B Maine coon and one day decided to pack her bags and move in from the neighbours house because they had had a furless baby and she couldn't tolerate the noise], Goldiecat [a ex ferral, its took years but she has gone from a kitty that wouldnt even come near the house let alone people to a lapcat always lifting her head up for more head rubs],Tom Tom [he is named after the sat nav as one day he just appeared on the window sil trying to get in rather than the door so like the sat nav can be,he isnt that good with knowing where to go,think he may even be VI].

And there are sisters cats who am 'aunt' to-Sandy [a stray, who she found pregnant in the garden of her work, she found out from the area that another neighbour abuses her badly then kicks her out everytime she gets pregnant, she took sandy into the home she lived in at the time, which did not allow cats but she didnt say anything,Sandy then had a healthy litter of kittens who all went to good homes-she kept the weakest of the litter-known as ruby, they're both tortishell mixes.

hope have not wrote too much again tonight!
