It's costing about £1,300 for Penguin to fly over from Baltimore, MD. Via a handling company

Must be that the USA companies cost more that the UK companies.

I think if you get a good handling company then it is not too difficult as they see to all the paperwork etc. You just have to ensure any jabs , chipping and fitness  to fly cert is sorted. The lady said it would cost about £ £1800, which would seem about right as my old man last year paid about £900 for his two to go to Canada.

It's costing about £1,300 for Penguin to fly over from Baltimore, MD. Via a handling company, still a bit of paperwork to get together from the vets and then have him picked up from the foster lady who was kind enough to keep him for 6 months. Vet check, USDA Vet papers signed, wormed etc and then shipped to Heathrow and I've got another company picking him up in London and brining him to our house.

Roll on May 17th.

Still have 2 forms to fill out and get everyone organised on what time he's being picked up and getting all his travel info from the US company to the UK company.

And I wonder why I've got a twitch in my left eye lid

That was for, the wooden carriers with the little water containers, luxury bedding, well shredded paper really, although I did place some of their own bedding in also. Transportation from my house to Manchester Airport, Flight to Heathrow, a night at the Heathrow kennels a final vet check and then on to Canada the next day. While the cats were not quite  Golden Oldies they were not young and they both arrived at their destination in purrfect condition.

It's not easy to take a cat cross the water (nor cheap), as we're counting the days (some of us minutes) until our cat Penguin comes across from the US.

Yippee I have helped someone, usually most e-mails are full of moans and groans, however I have just received a lovely e-mail thanking me for my help, makes a change I can tell you. A few weeks ago a lady rang me crying and asking if she could put her 4 cats on the list of cats waiting to come in. She advised Elaine, do you want me to take some vouchers to someone on St Thomas street? me she couldn't bare to part with them but she was moving to the USA. I asked if she had considered taking the cats and she said she  her vet said it is not fair to take them so far. I told her all about the old gentleman who emigrated to Canada last year and I sent his two cats 12 + out to join him. I also gave her all the details of what she needed to do if she could take them and details of pet transporters. Anyway she is taking them so that is one happy owner and 4 cats that don't need to come into care.
