Polly and Samantha act differently when they smell catnip (I used to grow it).
Polly acts like she's stoned and away with the fairies.
Samantha acts like she's in heat, rolling around, rubbing her head etc.
Silly cats!
Cats were once gods; they have never forgotten this, nor have the people they own.

Catnip Commandos

Hi folks,

I've been puzzled lately that Alfie has found a new hiding place in my bedroom which I've been unable to coax him from. Last night everything fitted into place, I went into the bedroom and he was nowhere in sight I looked all over including looking under the bed but no sign of him and he wouldn't answer to my calls. Lately Frankie has taken to wedging himself under the bed (he's too fat to go under there) and I presumed he was trying to catch a spider or something and Suzie's been acting very manic and even more highly-strung than normal. Anyway, back to the story, I have a couple of those zip-up canvas under the bed storage things for spare blankets etc. and eventually I found Alfie sandwiched between the two of them looking very sleepy, I managed to get him out but he was like a rag doll all floppy and laidback, it was then that I discovered the connection between all these strange happenings, there was a large bag of catnip ripped open with the contents liberally distributed, the crafty so-and-so had obviously nicked it and hidden his "stash" under the bed, returning now and again for a quick "fix", he wasn't sleepy he was stoned :) :). That's why Frankie so desperately wanted to get under the bed and why Suzie would suddenly hare around the room of a night ! :), clever little rascal. It made me laugh, I had this vision of Alfie and Frankie, faces blackened, well Alfie anyway as Frankie obviously doesn't need to apply camouflage of a nightime doing a commando raid on the kitchen cabinet where I kept the catnip, how they got it and carried it into the bedroom beats me, never a dull moment round here :)

Cheers

Leigh
