Carol vets wife rang me a while ago and asked I could go straight down with a pet for the TV cameras. Fortunately Stuart is working and is due home soon so I couldn't possibly go could I, I mean how would he get in as he doesn't have a key on him and no way could I hide one in the garden for him could I. ;D What a close call that was. I did manage to persuade one of the fosterers to go in my place though.

maybe our local vets didnt bother with it, which is a shame

Maybe you just didn't look hard enough. Then again it could be excused as usually vets have so many posters around.

How do you go about it?

I think all vets has the forms on display. Or at least all those that deal with pet plan insurance. Of course anyone who logging onto the pet plan sire would also have seen details.

recently as in a year or two ago, not this year...

A lot of things seem like they were only yesterday, don't they? When in reality it was ages ago.

The head nurse at our vet was 'Veterinary Nurse of the Year' recently - is that part of the same scheme?
Not sure as only the finalists have been announced

Sorry - sloppy English again - recently as in a year or two ago, not this year...

I presume it is voted for by the owners of the patients?

Yes that is right, Over the years they have won different categories a few times. This is the first year I have put in a entry, I did over 3 A4 typed pages. To me a vet who says he will delay his holiday for a sick cat and catch up with the rest of the party later by train deserves recognition.

i have just found out that my vet Eric is in the final 4 for vet of the year. I always knew we was brill. Even if he doesn't win the fact that you are in the final 4 in the country is something to be proud of.
