Title: Digby - an appeal from our older residents
Post by: ronandcats on April 12, 2012, 12:48:33 PM
One of the older residents at LostCatsBrighton gives us an insight into life in the shelter.

Who would have thought that one day I would be abandoned by my owner after 10 years of a loyal service? It seems like only yesterday that I was chasing anything and everything that moved, checking out the neighbourhood and protecting my garden from any other cat that dared to dig a hole. Now all I want is a peaceful life, a warm duvet; preferably goose feathers, 2 meals a day (but not your cheap stuff), as many biscuits as I can eat, a lap to sit on (if you’re lucky), some of your Sunday roast - only breast meat and cut into manageable pieces – and, of course, another servant that will be fooled into thinking that I actually care.

Now I am at LostCatsBrighton were I have so many people under my spell, they feed me twice a day, change my bedding and clean up after me. Little do they know that I play them off against each other. I pretend that each one is my favourite volunteer,  that way I get extra treats. I felt quite special when I learned that nobody at the rescue gets paid to do all they do for me, some of them even pay to come and spoil me - strange species human beings, but I guess god put them on earth to save our energy by hunting for us. Last night I heard that because of my age LostCats would be willing to foster me out, they said they would even pay any future vet bills! Well I guess that’s ok by me as long as they meet my requirements. I also heard that they are a bit hard up at the moment due to ever increasing vet’s bills along with the general cost of running this marvellous cat hotel, so if you can spare some money they would be extremely grateful.

Anyway that’s my good deed for this year. Back to ME. If you want to come and see me LostCats is open most days, but don’t be surprised if I decide you’re not for me. Rule 1 in the cat world is you don’t choose me I choose you. I’m waiting.

Mr C. Digby

Digby and other older cats are looking for someone to foster them in their later years with vet’s bills paid by the shelter. Please look at our website LostCatsBrighton for more information.

Thanks for your kind words and donations. Thanks Tiggy's Mum for putting our paypal link up too. Digby is very shy so is often overlooked as he is usually hiding  :'(
