Title: Bob the Big Issue cat
Post by: alisonandarchie on February 06, 2012, 22:57:52 PM
Wonder if anyone has heard of Bob and his owner James.

I was lucky enough to see Bob riding on James's shoulder near Covent Garden three years ago before I knew who they were.

Bob even has a book out soon and a Facebook page.

What an incredible story :Luv:

Bob has been on Purrs before, I posted after I was lucky enough to meet him and his lovely slave at the Angel Islington last year but he deserves another mention..  I have never seen such a chilled out cat and the bond the two of them have is incredible.  Bob is like a faithful dog the way he sits on his dad's shoulder or guards the Big Issues, I just don't get why he doesn't wander off like most cats would but he doesn't.  It is a lovely story of rescue and friendship and makes you feel all warm and toasty!

Adorable.

I'd say since about Christmas time (Bob was wearing a cat-sized santa outfit, naturally) they've been on Neal St whenever i've seen them, the latest time being on thursday i think.

I see them so often, it's very strange, Bob and James often take time out round the back of the building i work in (on Shaftsbury Ave) and i've given James a couple of cigarettes if i've been out there but i also live in Angel which is the other place they frequent!

Love this pic of him http://www.flickr.com/photos/photocritic/3727948510/in/pool-1541583@N23/ and this one where he is playing 'fighty bitey' http://www.flickr.com/photos/anniemole/6129445239/in/pool-1541583@N23/ In fact I love them all!

I think the Santa suit is a step too far but I guess his owner has got to make a living and it helps with the tourists, Bob certainly doesn't look to be upset by any of it and in one of the pics he is being hand fed Whiskas temptations so at least he is getting paid  :naughty:

We have a similar man in Reading, who whistles really well and who always busks with his ginger cat present. In the winter the cat has a heated pad in addition to his usual blankets. He's another ginger boy and very loveable. Everyone makes a fuss of him and he clearly relishes the attention. His owner showed me some photos of him and his cat on holiday in Cornwall, where they have some friends. The cat loves the beach and the water and has been known to go surfing (there were photos to prove it!) wearing a little yellow life jacket.

He's well known locally but can't find any pic links- will see if I can take some photos of him and cat when I'm next in town. I just loved the photos of the surfing cat!
