I picked up Suki on Monday and am taking her back to have the last of her stitches out next Monday.

I think she's doing really well. She's eating and drinking and using the litter tray okay. I didn't realise until I saw her using it that the litter tray I had was for kittens! I've bought her a bigger one so she's not so cramped. I have let her out of the pen a few times to let her stretch and to see how she is using her legs. She's quite wobbly but thats to be expected for a while I suppose. The vet said to let her exercise a bit to prevent muscle wasting.

I've also had a tentative go at brushing her fur. The fur on her back and tail is okay but everywhere else that's not been shaved is quite matted. I'll try to get the vet to trim a bit on Monday.

Introducing her to Lettuce, my cat, was interesting. They both hissed and snarlled at each other and Lettuce ran away! Peace was restored by covering the pen with a sheet. When they couldn't see each other Lettuce started coming out again. I've taken the sheet off now and they still hiss a bit but it's a lot better.

Suki is avery affectionate cat and loves having a good cuddle she even enjoys having her fur brushed but I don't pull her about. Either the brush goes through or it doesn't. I'm not going to hurt her just because I find the state of her coat annoying!

So, so far so good.

Update. Suki has to be operated on again as she still wasnt bearing weight on her leg. But hopefully now will be discharged on Monday for cage rest for several weeks. Luckily one of our volunteers has stepped in to take care of her during that time and when she is healed rehomed.

Suki was the second cat with broken bones this week, the other was the young kitten with a broken leg caused by the dog.. She now has pins but has a problem with her paw, but is now in our care..

Aww, fingers crossed for them - typical of the RSPCA though. Shame the potential fosterers' let you down, I hate people like that - we had one this year, we rearranged the whole day for her, and then she didn't even have the decency to ring to let us know!! I always think it is better they let us down before they get a cat rather than after.

I dont think i would let them have a cat at all the way they keep messing you about !!
Poor little girl , i would have fostered her if i lived nearer - hope you get something sorted soon.
She is better off not going to these people , they could have got her and then changed their mind again and you would have had to go and pick her up !
Some people are a waste of space and not worth bothering with .

Thankfully his wife thinks differently as after giving it a lot of thought, they are going to take her

. They spoke to Sharon this morning and I have just spent 1/2 hour + on the phone - initially they are going to foster with no pressure to adopt - but she said unless the cat is unhappy and yowling all the time, she will be their cat and will be loved as much as Milly. If Milly comes back, they will have 2 babies

I know they are great owners as they already had Milly signed up on vetplan which one of our vets does. This covers jabs, flea, worm + a % off any other treatment. She was also insured.

So looks like a happy ending for this one. They had also considered the blind cat but decided that as Milly can be a bit spiteful, it wasn't fair on a blind cat.

The attitude of the RSPCA does not surprise me !!
Remember the cat last year with a broken pelvis, RSPCA would give £50 towards treatment and when it was found it would cost alot more they said PTS.
Thankfully someone at the vets stepped in and the cat was saved

Hope the little one will be ok

As as for the people with their "unopened box of choc" .......

How can people be so cruel!? My cat was in an RTA last week and has fractured his pelvis in 2 places! Vet bills currently stand at £600 but never would i have considerd the alternative, not when he had fought to get this far (he was also a rescue cat). I admit that when i heard to costs i was scared as noone has that sort of money lying around but i knew i had to find it somehow. He is on cage rest at the mo and he is doing really well! As for the box of chocolates scenario, what rubbish! Freddie is being showered with affection and he loves it! Purring away and throwing himself into strokes as best he can!

If i had room i would help but unfortunately with one on cage rest and trying to keep him and his brother apart at the mo i just can't i am so sorry. i hope you find a cat lover to help x

As Sharon knows, I spoke to some potential fosterers last night but they said they wanted a "normal" cat. He described a cat on cage rest as "like having a box of choclits you can't open" - I guess they were't the special kind of people I hoped they might be

The RSPCA disgust me with all their millions in the bank. They are 99% propaganda.

We are paying the bill and working on a plan.. We have been given abit of time as the vets will not operate until Thurs and she want be released until the end of the week maybe next.

Shame on the RSPCA for not doing more.. She is only 5yrs old..

I have had a call from vets this morning. They have a 5yr old tortie in care that came in due to RTA, with ruptered diaphram and fractured pelvis last week. The cats owner wanted her PTS whe they found out how much it would cost to fix her, or even try to fix her..

Vets since then fixed her diaphram problem and she is now okay (it wasnt easy as it was very bad) but they are seeking help with her problem with pelvis.. The cost involved would be over 240 quid, no charge for vets time only for the clips to keep her leg together. The RSPCA have only given 60 quid and that was for pain rellief they are unwilling to help anymore.

The trouble is we have no where to put such a cat after an op like this. She will need cage rest for weeks (8wks) or so.. Currently working on a plan but as of yet i havent managed to speak to our welfare person to suss any plan out..

The cat is spayed etc and seems to be nice puss cat..

Anythoughts or advice pls much appreciated.

We had thought of moving her to our vets but i am not sure they will be happy to move her with her dodgy pelvis at the moment.. I think they are being fair just a shame that no rescue can help with space or money..
