Title: Tumor
Post by: cazanna67 on December 13, 2011, 22:25:41 PM
Tom is 16, we found out yesterday he has a Tumor the size of a kiwi fruit inside him attached to an organ. The vet has told me, no point in trying to operate or give cancer treatment, but to let him live out his last days. And to try and keep him comfortable. I agree, its hard though having to stand by and be able to do nothing to take this cancer from him. One of the hardest things I will ever have to do. I hope he will go peacefully as I dont want to put him to sleep when the time comes.  Today me and Tommy had a game of running around a box, then he had to go lay down again, the memories we will have in the next few months will be the best. I dont want to lose him. :catluv:

Sorry to hear this sad news for handsome Tommy

Its so sad when this happens .  Which organ is it attached too and if its attached and not in it why does the vet say it cannot be removed?

Tom also has a heart murmur, they said its too risky, could lose him with the operation.

sorry to hear about Tom.      My Ginger was diagnosed with lymphoma in January and he has a severe heart murmur so we are in a similar situation to you.      Ginger is still going and enjoying life greatly last night he was giving the young ones a run for their money chasing the laser pen despite what is now a huge lump.     He was given weeks in January.      Ginger has pain killers and steroids.

Hoping he and Lacey are around for a long time  x

I have another elderly cat, who I got just after Tom back in 1995, she has become very clingy to me since Tom has been ill. Today, cant get Tom to eat anything, his been at the water bowl a lot this morning. It could be that he knows I been putting medication in his food, will have to find another way of doing it without to much stress on him. :catluv:
