Didnt really want this moved - can it go back in R&R general pls? This wasnt posted in Cats needing homes, it wasnt that type of thread, just a general thread about my first foster cats. Thanks

Minnie the Minx went to her new home on Sunday - 7 months after she came to me as my first 'official' foster cat! My 2 foster pens, for the Cats Action Trust (N&W Wilts) were built at the end of May - Minnie was the first cat through the doors the day after the pens were finished!  I'm so pleased she's finally got a home after all this time  ;D

Bit of an update - not much movement on the rehoming front, so they are all still with me, although Juliette may have a home lined up. Bramble and Duchess are much more confident now, Bramble still isnt confident with strangers, but she doesnt hide underneath the blankets now at least! They usually come rushing out into the safety gate area where I prepare their food etc, and I then go in and do the trays and sweep round. It all went very quiet this morning (usually can hear them trying to get into the bag of dry food LOL!) - went to check and horror of horrors, I hadnt closed the outside door properly and all 3 were all out in the garden!  Managed to round them up ok though,, phew!

Minne the minx is still here too, as well as Chico of course, rehoming seems to be at a standstill.

Juliette, gorgeous girl  :Luv:

Duchess, such a difference from the scaredy cat on that first day she arrived

Bramble, still shy, but happy and playful

and Minnie the Minx, not quite so much of a minx as she was - she loves being picked up now, but she's fed up with being in cattery

Firstly....well done on starting your cat rescue career.....I often eye up my back garden wondering how I could fit a cat pen in there.
In future I would definitely ask the vets to use long lasting abx injections...and get used to administering yourself at home too. SOOO much easier than tablets.

Yep, i use catmilk too, works a treat - I did use butter once till I got some cat milk, and when Sam was refusing cat milk, I mixed it with Primula - rather messy, but he didn't notice anything!!
Please spay your cat

Anyone any ideas for giving antirobe? or is it just down the back of the throat job?

Cat milk is how I always give it to mine, just break open the capsule even in a small amount they never seem to taste it.
Please consider the harder to home cats in rescue.

Antirobe are easily opened and mixed into food (or milk), and are best given that way as it can be an irritating drug if stuck on the way down, my fav AB by far  :evillaugh:

When I've given tablets to cats in the past I've always put them in a bit of liver pate

Brilliant! pate - had some in the fridge - worked a treat!  :thanks:

When I've given tablets to cats in the past I've always put them in a bit of liver pate or butter.

My friend has to give her cat a tablet every day of her life and she just sits and opens her mouth bless her.  :Luv2:

Good luck

Well we're back - all three have had to have extractions, plus they checked their ears whilst under and they've all got ear mites  , so they've given me Advocate (I'd only just de-flead them last week with frontline combo, but they said it was alright to use the advocate now), plus they've got antibiotics for the next 7 days - so much for me thinking I could put their antibiotics in Webbox treats - they've been given Antirobe - the capsules are huge! Anyone any ideas for giving antirobe? or is it just down the back of the throat job?

No doubt about it Gillian - you are gonna have to keep all 3  :Luv2: ;)

Noooooooo!  :Nooooo:

but at least you have a chance to socialize them cos they are so young........loads of luck  ;D

Well, they are 10 yrs and 8 yrs - so not so young.  ;)

I think its so hard with scaredy cats, Sasa sees the other 3 being stroked but has no inclination to want any contact at all  :(

Misa and Sasa are scared of all other people but at least you have a chance to socialize them cos they are so young........loads of luck  ;D

Poor babies, hope they recover well and can relax a bit around strangers to help them get a new home

Edit:  Could they not have the long lasting antibiotic jab to avoid having to stress them out with daily tablets?

Thanks  :thanks: - didnt think to ask about long lasting antibiotic  - but in fact they were ok when I gave them their milbemax wormer (in a piece of Webbox stick  ;) ) - so hopefully I can do the same with the antibiot tablets.

Its odd really - wouldnt you think, if they can see mum Juliette being all friendly, purry and confident around people, that it would give them more confidence too?

The family have all had their dentals today - just phoned and they've all had to have extractions, poor girls  :( . Will be picking them up at 4 today, they've all got to have antibiotics too, oh joy! AND a check up for all of them in a weeks time  :tired: . They hate going in the cat baskets, they are no trouble to put in, but they are just so scared when anything different is happening, especially Duchess and Bramble.

Its going to be so difficult to rehome these girls, because they won't show themselves when people come - I've had a couple of friends come round, both of which are very calm around cats, but Duchess and Bramble won't come out when there are strangers in the pen.

I love the FAMILY - I want them.  Juliette is so sad looking in that pic and her markings are fab.

They will be up for rehoming soon.... ;) Juliette is gorgeous isnt she?

They have all been a bit subdued since the vet visit, but I suppose it was a lot happening all over a couple of days - fleat treatment, worming, then traumatic vet visit. The Family are off their food a bit today  :(
