Glad to hear she is so much better, but make sure you complete the course of antibiotics or it can come back. :Luv2:

I wonder if this sneezing thing is going round at the moment. Sam and Fred have had it. Fred was vaccinated against flu just a few months ago. When I took Sam to the vet (she was drinking lots too - she's going back to see him next week) he thought she might have an upper respiratory infection and gave her antibiotics, though her temperature was normal.

I haven't taken Fred to the vet because he is at an age where he will throw off any minor bug.

I just wonder whether there is a minor form of cat cold, rather than flu, going around.

Yes she will be a carrier but don't let that worry you too much.

One of mine had very bad cat flu as a kitten and she has never had it again.
You should contact the person you got her from and let them know (although i doubt they will care).
You could always drop the RSPCA a call if you feel the other cats and kittens are not being cared for properly !!

Hope she gets back soon bless her xxx

Drinking is important as well as with snotty noses they can become dehydrated quite quickly.  Maybe make a little stock up with some of the chicken so it smells nice.

Just because it is cat flue, not all become carriers automatically.  Persia had very bad cat flu when was a very young kitten, but has had no symptoms since.

also meant to say I asked where you got her because a lot of rescues will give you six weeks free insurance - that is the problem with people who just let their cats have kittens, they are rarely checked over by a vet first - hope the little one starts to perk up soon

my sister brought them from a woman who was advertising them, she had them stuck in a small room on their own and also had 4 other cats so i presume they have passed the virus onto the kittens.Does this mean my cat will be a carrier for life now? :-:
she is eating well i have given her cooked chicken but she's not drinking alot

That's the other thing I meant to say.  My Vet says it is not the flu that will make them deteriorate, it is the loss of appetite so tempt them with anything you can so that they are getting food into them.

poor little things, where did you end up getting her from?  One of mine is a carrier and has had flare ups, the main things is making sure they can smell food otherwise they tend to go off food, I did buy the vet food you heat up but he wouldn't eat it so ended up eating tinned tuna in water for a few days

Porr little mite, the antibiotics usually do the trick and with your tlc I'm sure she'll be running around in no time.

Might be worth your sister getting her kitten checked out now in case antibiotics are needed there before the condition gets any worse.

Hi the vet said it was likely she has cat flu and has given her some antibiotics, so with lots of TLC hopefully she'll be fine ;D

I think even if it is not definite cat flu I would wait until the snottiness has gone before vaccinating, the vaccination could make it worse.

I agree with Sheryl, a trip to the Vet sooner rather than later, the quicker the little one can get on antibiotics if necessary the sooner the problem will be sorted.  Also, when little ones get even the snots, they can get dehydrated very quickly so a proper diagnosis is needed.

Hope all goes well.

Maybe someone could move this to the Health and Behaviour Section for you where it will get seen more

I would not take any chances with a kitten so young so would advise that you try and get her booked into the vets today for a checkup.  I really hope she gets better soon x
