Goodness. That's a large parcel of nothing Lynn!!

This thread reminds me of a former neighbour whose pedigreed persian boy was the subject of heated discussions in the house. She wanted him fixed. He wanted him kept intact (for no reason other than male sympathy at the horror of it all). So one day Daryl sets off to work and Bev got a taxi to the vets and had Corky fixed. When Daryl got home, Corky still had evidence of dampness around his rear end, but the long hair covered the evidence. Bev explained to Daryl that poor Corky had had the most terrible bout of diarrhoea so she had had to take him to the vet. As Daryl could see Corky was damp around his nether parts and not his usual bouncy self, he fell for it hook line and sinker. The entire village kept the secret and it was the source of much amusement when Daryl pointed to local long-haired kittens as evidence of Corky's 'achievements'

Thanks Suzi, I did have a little feel in the end

luckily I have his brother to compare him to and if anything Riley's just felt like there was more skin. I'm glad I didn't go as far as taking him to the vets

After Bailey was neutered at 6 months...I too noticed his very pronouced 'man bits' when he was about 1 year old and he had started spraying in the house..So i did the daft embarrssing thing and took him to the vets to get checked!!!!

I had all the staff laughing as they initally asked me down the phone to feel him to see if there was anything inside his wee sacs! But not having felt a cat's 'rude bits' before I wasn't sure what I was feeling for!!!!

Then I got my vet nurse neighbour to 'feel' and look...but she was also unsure!!!

So a trip to the vets finally confirmed that they were just sacs of loose skin!!!

Poor Bailey had been well and truely exposed of all his privacy by the end!!!!

It's reassuring to hear that others remain well endowed in that area. Don't think I'll be ringing the vets after all then, would have been very embarrasing and even more so to hear that it's quite common

George was well endowed and remained so after neutering until i gave him a good combing and found that it was 50% old hair in that area

he lost his street cred after that

Well, after the vets cut Smokey up to spay him

he was neutered properly. They left everything behind though. I questioned this with CP and they said that's what they do sometimes these days (not needlessly cut open male cats...). Apparently they don't need to remove the whole lot now. He doesn't look like he's been done at all but he displays no other signs of being entire.

It does make me quite squeamish of grooming him in that area though

don't want to hurt him!

You should try living with any Aby .... you'd get to have a close up of Kitty nads regularly! Zephyr takes great delight in parading round the house with his tail straight up in the air flashing his bits to the world.

Benjy, my little neighbour who I fostered during his recuperation from being neutered, has a similar setup, Helen - he's about 16 months old now and is showing no signs AT ALL of having any testosterone in circulation so I'm happy to accept that it's just how things are and nothing to worry about.

Bless you... that's just what being a mum of little boys is like really

But he is 10 - what was left after neutering has probably shrivelled up long since

Ok just for you I have just rolled Spike over, had a little look and a little feel then I rolled Spotty over had a look and a feel (both neutred) then I rolled Homer over (he is still intact at the moment) and I cannot actually see any difference. I would say that Homer is marginally larger but not much.

Don't suppose that helps really, does it?

I had a sort of disgusted sneer on my face, still partly there now. Just feels very wrong

Do you think anyone would be offended if I posted the 'close up'? That way people with neutered males could hopefully say whether their boys are that sort of size. Happy not to if people think it's a bit too weird

an optical illusion could certainly be contributing. Unless Lynn thinks you should be concerned, I would settle for just keeping an eye on him.

The only difference is that Riley's feels like there is more skin, was sort of rolling it between my fingers, sorry far too much info I know but hard to explain otherwise. Riley's fur is dark grey in that area and Lukey's is a very light grey so maybe it's just the difference in colour that makes them look so different.

Think I'll give the vets a ring on Monday and ask if he needs to be seen, I'm not at all worried about him in himself (or wasn't). Was hoping others would say they have the same too.

could just be a bodily reaction to the operation. I would be inclined to keep an eye on him rather than panic too soon. One symptom is less worrying than several...

He's completely normal in himself - hyper, happy and eating like a horse.

unlikely to be a regrowth. more likely some sort of fluid build-up inside the scrotum. Possibly just plasma but I would be off to the vet quick smart to make sure it is not an infection - any other signs like heat, off colour, less energetic??

Riley is 7 1/2 months and was neutered a week before his 6 month birthday. After he was neutered his 'furry bits' were completely flat as were Lucas'. I've noticed in the last week or so that he seems to be expanding in that area, almost to the point that he doesn't look neutered anymore

Lucas has remained fairly flat and there is definitely a noticeable difference between the two of them which there wasn't after they were neutered.

Is this type of thing normal? Has anyone else with a neutered male experienced a re-growth?
