Sorry, I didn't see this but didn't know how to add them anyway  Shy

Tan did mention that she'd be showing me how to add these so we could put so many on a rotation basis but as you know she's busy atm.

Anyway glad all is sorted and once Tan is back I should be able to sort out adding cats who've been waiting a while on a regular basis   Hug

 Welcome Lorraine

I am so pleased you are looking round Purrs cos we are very proud of it.

The items you have sound lovely and the best place for them is probably our auction but as the others have told you, we have just had that.

I have always held out against having two auctions a year for many reasons, but basically time and money and not wanting to detract from the Christmas one.

I will have a think about your items and see what we can do  Grin

The forum opened on 15 Nov 06 and as Tan said it was meant to be a temporary place of residence but no longer , we are here to stay but are a sister site of Cat Chat where all the original 250 people came from.

We do rehome quite a few cats here  but nothing on the scale of Cat Chat and we have a section for cats who were rehomed from here after being advertised.

The shop.....have you seen our shop  Who me!!  Thats run by Tan and we have some fabulush toys in there including the best one in the world........da bird  Grin

Any profit from the shop goes into our Rescue Fund adminstered by Tan and think there is a pay out due from it soon  Who me!!

We also have another special fund called  Busters Fund named after the Late President of Paws Inn, one of our supported rescues, yes Buster was a cat  Grin  This is used for very special things as decided by Tan......she is the accountant LOL. We also have a draw every month where money goes to one of the rescues and also to one of the members, called Save a Life Draw, it has its own section in the place you are trying to get to  Shifty Shifty

We support rescues that have been scrutinized by Tan and I and we have a limit on the number we support and have four indepent rescues who benefit from the auction  , which raises around £2000 now. Oh and then there is the Cat Show finishing on Midsummers Day....that was meant tio be a one off LOL but comes back by popular demand and again money goes to our rescues.

Purrs has become so much more than was envisaged when we started and its a thriving community of people who love cats and dont think there is such a nice cat forum anywhere else  Grin

I do hope you enjoy it here  Grin

 Welcome Hi Lorraine  Grin

Great to have ya with us smile

That's so lovely of you and we would be so very glad of any items donated to help us raise funds for cat rescue smile

We hold an annual auction near Xmas as Julie has said  Grin which would be great place for your items. Each auction goes to a independant rescue each year and the funds help them to help more cats in need smile  We do have various things going on in the year which Gill is in charge of  Grin to raise more money for the rescues and maybe we can do something extra with your wonderful donationed items  Grin

I like to think of Purrs (and it is and always will be my goal as the owner of the site) to be able to help as many needy rescue cats & Cat rescues as possible, to support cat lovers with friendship and advice.   We have a great cat community, always like to keep it friendly where any cat lover can come for advice, support and just cat chatting to like minded people. This is great and as just as important as our rescue support side as the more we have in our community the more suscess and funds we can raise for the needy cats  Grin
I was and still amazed how Purrs has grown over the years (lol, it was meant to be a temp site back in 2006 after catchat's forum had a break) We have grown and grown and now have a fantastic membership with our own online shop.  Grin

In future, i hope to make Purrs a registered charity so will will be able to have gift aid on our donations and be part of Missionfish etc  Grin

Hi Lorraine!  Welcome

Purrs isn't primarily a rescue forum, it's more a forum of cat lovers to share stories, information and support other cat owners. Purrs does support rescue work through a number of incentives but that's not the main aim of this site. Some members (like me) are volunteers for different rescues but others are simply ordinary cat owners with no links to rescues.  Wink

It's hard to say how many cats have been adopted via this forum but we have had great success in forging networks between different rescues and areas, which has resorted in better distribution of resources. So more cats have been helped and more rescue places better utilised.  wow

From time to time we do have different fundraising activities and the takings are shared around the different rescues which have representatives here. For example, just before Christmas is the annual auction where people can donate stuff for sale. Items are donated by individuals as well as companies and the auction seems to grow in popularity each year. You will see the most recent auction section which was in aid of Sunny Harbour cat rescue. We do also have an ongoing fund which raises money through the Purrs shop, the operating profits are also distributed between worthy causes or emergency appeals which come up from time to time.  smile

I am fairly sure Purrs does have an Ebay Missionfish account going but Gill or Tan would know more about that. Anyway, that would be the best way to raise money via goods donated.  Naughty

I'm sure Gill will tell you more but I was around and spotted your post and thought I'd chip in.  Evil Laugh

Hi Gill
I am looking over the forum here and although new I am finding this a fantastic place with lots of good work here.

How long has this been going for and how many cats are rescued through this forum?

Also I dont know if this is the place to ask - but how will I donate things for fund raising.
I import Swarovski crystal and make cat collars - I would like to donate a kitten collar and a cat collar to raise funds and also maybe a silver plated swarovski bracelet and ankle chain?
Let me know

Hi Tan

Would you be able to put our girl Maggie on as a news flash. Her thread is here

http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/index.php/topic,24591.0.html

She has been with us over a year now and although she can still be a little fiesty at times she will make a great companion to an experienced owner who doesn't mind the odd scratch. She is gorgeous and we so want her to have a new home.

Thanks
Ann

Hi Tan
Any chance you can put dear Marcus on the news flash section as Marcus has now been with us for some time.. He is proving to be esp difficult to rehome do to him not liking other cats and his past history of spraying (which he hasnt done since being in a home where no other cats around)... He is not a lap cat or indeed  cat you can really cuddle, experienced cat owners only and no other cats around (or resident to the area) he didnt seem to be bad with dogs at the last fosterers home so maybe a cat friendly dog would be okay..

He is on our catchat page.. i can send photo etc if you are not able to use them from Catchat.

Ta very much

Have you tried the place in Derby (littleover). A lady there has very many FIV cats. Angie and I delivered philchards there last year. It really is a fantastic place. Just a normal house but well run.

News flashes on the front page that rotate between needy cats are really good to spread the word and highlight their plight. Not only do they appear to all our members everytime they visit the front page but also to guests looking on.

Please email me purrs@purrsinourhearts.co.uk  if you would like a needy Cat on the news flash section. Luv

Perhaps his mouth problems are causing him discomfort and once 'sorted' he may well turn the corner.

This type of thing makes me so angry, if only people would report a suspected stray immediately so many cats would be saved much suffering. Why they have to wait until a cat is ill is beyond me.

I am sure Pinkbear will not mind me adding to this..

Conker came into our care after he was reported as being very ill over a weekend, he was reported to us as staggering around in the road. He was being fed by a lady for the last few years, but she didnt want to do it anymore !!! He was taken in and tested and proved to be FIV, by which point the vet rang me to decide if we should PTS. I agreed to give him a chance, although age against him, he was otherwise healthy... He has been with one of our experienced fosterers for 2 wks, we found he was drinking lots so had suspected kidney problems.  it was decided to get him in a basket and get him to the vets to have further blood tests.. Kidneys today proved to be fine, but his gums were terrible.. We treated with antibotics for 2wks so see if we can get on top of the inflammation...He can be touched and can be picked up but he hisses at you big time, he has not bitten at all though..

I am trying to give this puss one last chance..as he is unhomeable in a domestic environment.. I thought today he was going to be PTS, but we are going to give it a try to sort this puss problems out..

He dosnt seem to mind other cats although thats only going by he dosnt lunge when he sees another cat.. He hides and generally wants to get our of your way.. Anyone who remembers Isaac another FIV puss from Catchat days will know i successfully got him into Foal and he is doing well. Conker is an older version of Isaac...

Conker FIV

Canterbury and District CP are trying to find an FIV colony for Conker. He's an elderly gentleman, has no other health problems save for the dodgy gums associated with FIV. Trouble is he is very, very nervous of people having spent most of his life outdoors. He isn't agressive, but hisses when you pick him up. He will not be happy as an indoor pet.

Conker really isn't happy in our care. He needs a place where he can be with other cats like him in a sheltered environment. Can anyone help?

Hi Tan our dear Milo is a needy puss that perhaps needs abit more coverage to find  him a retirment home.. His details are here and will get another photo of him during the weekend if possilble.

We took Milo in about two month ago, after being picked up by a member of the public and taken to the vets, suspecting he had been involved in a RTA.. It turned out the Milo had no injuries at all, but was very confused and it became very obvious that he was blind in one eye..

Milo was unwanted and would probably of been put to sleep had we not agreed to take him on...

Milo is a senior puss of unknown years, he is black all over with a few grey hairs in there for good measure, and has obviously had a bit of a hard time.. He is blind in one eye but can see out of the other a little. Due to Milo"s extreme age is has a problem finding the litter tray unless he has some guidance, he therefore needs to be rehomed to a home where he can safely potter around an enclosed garden or somewhere where it would be easy to clean up should he miss his tray... This may sound all abit to much for most people and we have no doubt he is going to be a very difficult cat to rehome.. But Milo"s saving grace is his personality, he can literally love you to bits.. having been starved of affection for so long he dots over anyone and anything that gives him just one kind hand of affection..

Milo sleep alot and doesn"t really play, he loves sitting in the sunshine and watching the grass grow....having reduced sight his smell sense if finally tuned. However, you still have to poke food under his nose to remind him every now again where his food bowl is. We realise Milo" age is against him and he may not have many more years in him, but who knows........At least he has been given a chance of some TLC and affection rather then ending his days on the streets..

Any dedicated animal lover who has a particular affection to a golden oldie, then Milo fits your bill...

At the moment we have built Milo an ouside run where he can sit and ponder, he has shelter at night and lovely warm blankets, but this isn't going to be such a great idea when our cold days come along...

If you want to know abit more abit him, then PLEASE give us a ring and we will do our best to answer any queries you may have....

We all get old eventually, its just a shame that in Milo"s case he may never get to loving home unless someone can look past his age and his problems, and see a loving loyal cat.

I will be  very happy to add any babes that are looking for a home to the news flash section with a link to the thread giving the details of the needy babe.
As we can only have a maxiumum of 3 needy cats on our news flash section at one time, Our news flashes for Urgent cases, hard to home cats etc wil take prority over any non urgent cases.

The news flash section is always shown up in search engines and is always on the front page of the forum.

PLease let me know if you  would like to add any cats (from any of our rescues or private members) to the news flash section.

 Luv
