 :catluv:

thank you for the positive stories, the frustrating thing is it seems to be a waiting game and more often than not they are literally round the corner.

Im not giving up hope on her, im going to do another search and leaflet this week... maybe a stakeout on this cat from last wednesday! (the neighbours already think im crazy having seen me on many occasions in leopard print pj in the middle of the street shouting "come here sausage"!)

We found a cat some years ago and brought him to vet to be scanned.  He was chipped and therefore reunited with his family ...... 6 months after going missing!

His family rang us and invited us to come and visit him  :Luv:  They were of course stunned and delighted.  Don't give up hope

I've just told JennyLynn about a cat who turned up (lost) in my garden a few summers ago: she'd been missing for three months but fending for herself rather successfully in some nearby mews workshops.  It's been nice weather and Snowball might also be on an adventure.

Incidentally the cat I found was only a few hundred yards from home.

oh im so glad you got him back, what good luck you put one there and someone spotted him.  ;D

my friend is handing out leaflets at the school tomorrow and ive put up posters in a few shops... pet city surprisingly were not helpful at all,
"oooh i dont think we have any room on the notice board any more...... dave, dave do we still put up posters?!"
-great thanks for being so helpful, you specialise in pets!- i had to beg

its amazing what an impact it has on your views of people etc

im still missing her dearly, ebony my other cat is loving the fact she doesnt have any competition anymore for food or my affections and has suddenly turned into an overly friendly little soul (think she was always a bit put out when i got snowball)

Enough is enough, come on snowball you were always a little sod but youve taken it to another level, come home sausage, my sink looks empty without you curled up in it  :'(

Yeah I got my boy back after 8 of the longest days in my life.  He wasn't far from home .... litterally only three streets away but on the other side of the main road and definitely "off his patch".  I had put one of my notices on the Bottle bank recycling thing and a lady who was  recycling saw him hiding in a huge bramble bush nearby.  As he is a real mummy's boy and would not go to her when she called him so she rang me and I drove straight round.  He was so pleased to see me he jumped straight in the car when I called him.

The key is to get your posters in all the places where people go ... on or near bus stops, recycling bins, telephone juntion boxes, telegraph poles, supermarket notice boards, pubs / clubs / village hall, scout huts, church notice boards.  Basically allthe places where people congregate - not just lamp posts! lol

Good luck and stay positive

Even the manageress at the local BP garage on one of the main roads near me is a cat lover and put it up in the main window instead of the hidden notice board.

I live right next to a school so might sneak out of work early and hand out leaflets there, i did give them a poster but your right kids are key.

I used Tiggys Mums poster format-  :thanks: for uploading it

Did you get your boy back sam?-

That's good news .... it's surprising how nice the majority of people are.  I know when I lost my boy I was utterly amazed at not only how many people "knew" him but also how nice some of the rather "scary" looking people that lived near me are  ;).

One of the things I found really useful was the local kids ... especially little girls ... they love to help.  I wandered round the streets and handed out flyers to everyone I saw including the local kids asking them to let me know if they saw my boy.  Obviously you have to choose you kids with care ... I tended to avoid teenage boys!

Defo get printing at work, I'm sure they won't mind  ;)

Here's where I sound like a loon but I have a pre-made poster in Word just in case one of mine ever goes missing (not quite as crazy as it sounds as they have never been out on the streets and have only ever been in the back garden which is catproofed so if they ever got out they would immediately be missing).  Here's a phone pic of what mine looks like, I think it's pretty eye catching.

I think if people are animal lovers they will keep an eye out regardless of whether the poster looks 'official' or not. You could always see what type of things they put on their posters and add any good bits to yours. If you got any sightings and she was evading capture and needed to be trapped then your local Cats Protection or RSPCA would probably be able to lend you a trap (if you leave a deposit).

:luck: Hope you get some sightings/news soon

my parents have had their entire yearly ink and paper supply drained in one fail swoop this morning as i dont have my own! - ill get printing at work  :)

No sightings, calls etc yet but they were only delivered at lunch time  :-:

Thank you for the poster idea, its more eye catching than mine.  :thanks:

The only reason I thought about that website was because they take the calls about sighting etc for you and can provide other services like traps etc.... their posters leaflets look official and possibly less likely to be binned?! I havent included my name on mine, although posting my phone number around the streets of northampton town centre hasnt filled me with excitement.

Edit: Forgot to say, how did it go today? Any sightings/info?

I've not used them before (been lucky enough not to be in your position ) but haven't heard any bad reports about them on here, which being a large cat forum you'd think you would if they were not up to much.

If you were just going for the poster service then I think it's probably just as easy to make your own. Would your work let you print a load off? Would take minutes on a laser printer rather than hours on a home printer!

I'd leave your name off (in case you attract any loonies), if it's an A4 poster you could put something like:

LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST  LOST

MISSING - whatever area

PHOTOS PHOTOS

'Snowball is an all black cat *more detailed description*  When last seen she was wearing a *colour* collar with tag although this may have come off - she is microchipped (delete if not). She was last seen at X on X date.

Please check your sheds/garages as she may have got trapped inside. Despite being confident and friendly at home she is very shy with new people so may not come close – if you think you may have seen her, even from a distance, please let me know.

Any news, good or bad, appreciated.  She is a much loved and missed family pet and there is a cash reward for her safe return.

she would just hide in a corner, she has been known to even hide in the flat when peeps are around until i go searching; she does respond to rattling the cat biscuits though.

:thanks: feeling much more prepared for tomorrows search now.... ive even stopped crying for a while now which is always a bonus! x

If she is a nervous kitty I would ask the owners if you can come with them to check .... don't assume she will run out of an open door.  Often a nervous furbabe will hide in a corner rther than run past a stranger and risk getting caught  ;)

Keeping everything crossed for you ... she looks adorable.xx

Yep, I was going to say the same. Does she come to treats being rattled or similar? If so take a packet with you to shake.

she is affectionately known as "little sod" (thats the polite version!) due to the ammount of mess and havoc she creates.

im hoping she is just hiding out in a shed, she is very timid even when someone comes into my flat. I will definately ask them to check whilst i wait though, having read stories on here that is often where they hide.

thank you for your advice, i appreciate someone taking the time to help  :)

I didn't mean for you not to be worried as it's early days, just that she's likely to be close by so much more likely to be found sooner

As it's been nice weather then she may have got herself shut in a shed/garage so well worth door knocking the local houses asking them to check their sheds/garages while you wait. Best to take someone with you if you can.

Love that pic of her, she looks very mischievious!  :Luv2:

Thanks for the info  :), im working my way through the list of tips and tricks.

She is spayed, so shes not gone off in search of a man!

I know its early but its so unlike her... she goes out for an hour at a time, only when im in and wont venture further than my court.  :scared:

Even her step sister is missing her and they only "tolerate" each other at best. x

My little girl has gone missing and i am beside myself.  :'(
She didnt want to come in thurs eve so I decided to go to bed and leave my window open for her to come in (i live in a ground floor flat)
I woke up around 3am Friday morning and remember seeing her, she then escaped back through the window and hasnt been seen since.

She is never normally out at night and i feel so guilty for not waiting up for her to come back in.
 :(
Ive put up posters around my court and have listed her on various websites as well as doing a wander around the surrounding blocks of flats.
Tomorrow I am leafleting all surrounding roads.
I havent stopped crying since she went and i just want her home, shes quite timid but very inquisitive.
This is horrible- Come home Snowball, mummy loves and misses you loads xx
