How cool is my village - I put a note round on Monday saying thank you to everyone, and two people have put notes back through saying they're really pleased to hear a happy outcome, and we got home from work today to find a box of whiskas left in our postbox - no note or anything

So now I've got no idea who phoned us to say they'd seen Geoffrey, and no idea who has given us some food

I reckon he might have a gf on the scene somewhere :shify: :shify:

I'd better not tell Milly  :evillaugh:

Thanks for all your kind words and concern, it definitely means a lot to have people to talk to when you're worrying so much.  Geoffrey is fine today, a bit quiet and clingy and he slept with his head on mummy's hand but he certainly hasn't attempted to go anywhere!

There seems to be a bit of a 'turf war' going on, Bluebell another cat has a territory of about a mile, she bullies every cat in the village (so I discovered chatting to other kitty owners yesterday!) we reckon that Geoffrey chased her off but ended up being off his territory and got lost from there - the part of the village we found him was the end that she lives at, and he wouldn't have known where he was.

We had a phone call from the local farmer this evening to see if we'd found him, I thought that was really lovely - he said he'd check the barns and everything this morning but in all honesty I'm not sure I believed that he would  :shy: so I'm even more pleased at my lovely community!

Do you think I should put notes back round telling everyone he's back and thanking them for their support?  I don't want to be a nuisance but on the other hand so many people have shown genuine concern that I really would like to thank them.

I am really really happy for you.  I wanted to say somethign yesterday but I couldn't bring myself to be part of this post becasue my Smudge went missing last November and after all my searching I found him dead in April the day after someone had seen him.

I read everyone's replies and I know they had given you lots of good ideas so I knew I couldn't add anything.

The amount of things that go through your mind is unbelievable.  I hated the things I was thinking as Smudge never went away either.

Woo Hoo what great news ... he's probably jumpy because of all those dogs trying to sniff him out!

It's amazing how a lost kitty can unite a community ... I remember meeting so many nice people when Zephyr and Rossi went missing.

I'm absolutely cream crackered!  I must have walked miles today!  I could really have done with a glass of wine earlier but I didn't in case he turned up and needed to be taken to the emergency vets.  And now the shop is shut and I don't have any!

On a really positive note, I'm encouraged at what a great little community I live in, we have had several phone calls from people this evening (including a few dog walkers saying their dogs had taken a particular interest in a certain plot of land etc) and all the people I saw were all too happy to search their sheds/garages and let me wander round their gardens calling him.  The local pub had put a notice up on their bar too.  And by the time I got to some houses who had been out earlier, they already knew, so the village gossip mill obviously works well too

I'm so pleased to say that Geoffrey is home!  We just got a phone call from someone out walking their dog to say they think they saw him over the other side of the village - so off we rushed and after about 20 minutes of looking and calling, he answered us!  We carried on talking to him and he talked back until we found him cowering in the corner of a garden.  He wouldn't have known where he was and he was terribly frightened and jumpy.  He's eaten some dinner and seems happy to be back, doesn't seem to be injured at all.

I really thought I wasn't ever going to see him again!  I'm just sooooooooooooooo relieved!

I hope so, but I'm not so sure, as he isn't the sort of cat to go wandering around other people's garages and sheds and stuff, at that time in the morning he literally goes out for a wee and comes back in again.  Most people are home now, we've just been round again and no sign.  I'm exhausted and there's nothing more I can do tonight, thanks for all your thoughts i'll keep you posted xxx

Sam - I';ve started a separate thread over there just now

I'm exhausted, I've been hunting all lday I've just leafleted the village and surrounding area just printing off a few more leaflets now, there is something very wrong I have been in virtually every garden, up the pub, the farmer let me in to look around all the outbuildings I have nowhere left to look but I can't just sit here I am devastated Geoffrey is my baby
